5K in a month?

My family and I have signed up for a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. That is a little over a month away. I have a decent fitness base but I haven't ran over 2-3 miles in a long while. What is the best way to get in shape for this?

    The Couch to 5K (C25K) app/ programme is highly recommended!
  • Hal Higdon's 8 week 5k training program for novice runners is a really great training plan, I know that you don't have 8 weeks but the plan is based on 3 runs and 3 other exercises during the week with one rest day, but you could always use the exercise days as longer runs as well.

    You might be able to get away with skipping the first week, though not recommended. What is your goal for the 5K? Is it to finish as a family? If so, then what are their plans? Will they be running all of it, or doing a run/walk combination to the finish? Do you want to run all of it, or are you satisfies with doing a run/walk combination.

    Just a warning, running can become addictive once the miles start adding up.
