Recommendations for a mat for garage

Hey everyone. I am on week 1 of T25 Beta and I'm already looking ahead to what's next. I was able to complete the first month of Insanity 2 years ago but then I had an injury and couldn't complete it. I was doing it in my garage and my legs hurt a lot because I was jumping on concrete.

I'd like to do Insanity again but I definitely need to add some type of mat in the garage.

Does anyone here workout in their garage to a program similar to Insanity? Do you have any recommendations on the type of mat I could purchase? I'm sure it'll be a little pricey but will be well worth it in the long run. I do remember having to travel a lot of space in some of the workouts, so I don't exactly know how big the mat should be.

Your thoughts & comments are much appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't know about insanity but I have a basement gym (unfinished on concrete floor) and I built a lifting platform that it topped with stall mats. I bought them at a store that sells horse supplies. It is super high dense rubber and takes a lot of abuse. They are pretty heavy and not easy to carry though.

    I think each mat was $40 and are 3' x 6'

My friend has converted their garage into a gym yoga studio and put interlocked foam matts on the floor. They are black and about 2 feet square. They have good grip and enough cushion that laying on them for yoga they are quite comfortable.

The hospital just redid the floor in their gym and replaced the carpet with those interlocked foam matts. It is so much better!
  • Thanks all - I'm going to look at the foam mats. Do they hold to the ground pretty well? Last thing I would want is to be doing Insanity and the mat slides and I fall...haha

I found the interlocking 2'x2' mats at Big Lots, they were under $20 for a package of 6. I shopped around, and that was the best price I could find. Home Depot and Lowes also sell them, but they're a bit more expensive there.

Mine stick to the ground quite well (they're on a tile floor) but I also put a yoga mat on top to give my feet and hands a really good non-slip surface.
