can't eat breakfast??

i have always been a BIG breakfast fan. i tend to eat a big, savory breakfast (can't handle sweets in the morning). & because of my lifestyle, dinner is around 7-8 hours later (thus just a snack for lunch).

this past week i can't eat breakfast. the thought grosses me out. an egg burrito i had actually made me throw up after two bites.

i've been eating b-fast anyway, even though it feels like i'm eating monkey testicles, just so i'm not hungry during the day.

any thoughts on why this might have suddenly started happening?

just wondering if anyone else has suddenly experienced this drastic lack of appetite in the morning.

PS -- not morning sickness :p

My first thought was morning sickness, lol. My next thought was a virus or something. Perhaps a food sensitivity? Have you tried switching up what you have for breakfast, maybe eggs just aren't agreeing with you (or another part of a delicious savoury breakfast).
The only time I have actually thrown up from food was when I was pregnant and if you have already ruled that out then I am kind of at a loss.

Wow. I'll be interested to find out what it ended up being... it IS strange. I'm at a loss, too.
Try skipping breakfast for now and making lunch the more substantial meal (or at least as substantial as you can stomach). I don't eat breakfast till almost 11 PM nowadays.
  • Pregnant. That's my thought.

Assuming you're not pregnant or sick.... try eating non-traditional foods for breakfast. Sometimes I'll make a grilled ham & cheese sandwich or something like that.

Don't want breakfast? Ok, don't eat it. What's the problem?
  • This totally sounds like my pregnancy lol... Just the thought of smelling bacon made me dry heave...On the upside, if It's morning sickness, it too shall pass! :)

The changing seasons -- and thus changing light/dark cycle -- could be altering your Circadian rhythms, which in turn alters your body's release of hormones related to appetite.

It's kind of an extreme reaction, though. You might want to consider peeing on a stick. ;)

How are your bowel movements? Sometimes when I am a little backed up, the thought of eating doesn't go over well because my bowels are still full.

Also, sometimes we just get tired of what we like. I would try doing something lighter for breakfast and making an effort to eat substantially a little later.

i feel fine otherwise, so i don't think it's virus-related either, especially since i have an appetite late in the day..

i'm going to try switching up my breakfast to see if it's suddenly a flavor/smell thing that's been grossing me out. that's a good suggestion, thanks! :)

like, right now, i've got to eat something because i have to go help teach preschoolers in like an hour, but the thought of putting something in my tummy is not fun. but if i wait until i'm ready/hungry, i feel starved for the rest of the day. i'm so used to breakfast that i am not fun to be around without it lol (in response to @alongcamemolly)

....... i pre-logged some toast with cheese and pasta sauce (subconsciously switching it up?) because pseudo-pizza seems the most "do-able"

thanks for your thoughts and suggestions guys!

i just thought i'd try and run it past the community for ideas since i'm at a loss...

interesting thought! but i live in the tropics so prob. not

my bowel movements are fine :) i usually go in the morning post-coffee (sorry if t.m.i.)

i would say definitely not pregnant, though the symptoms are similar. i haven't peed on a stick though so i guess i can't say "definitely" ...

    ah well

thanks a lot for your thoughts, guys!

A good smoothie with any combination of protein powder, fruit, vegetables, milk, yogurt, coconut milk, cottage cheese, orange juice, cocoa powder, honey, etc. etc. can keep you going for a long while, then you can have a snack later and a larger lunch.

Smoothie - cup milk, cup frozen fruit, 1 scoop protein powder
    or
Chocolate protein powder, milk, frozen banana, peanut butter or powdered peanut butter (PB2 http://www.bellplantation.com/ )

I'd more concerned that you know what monkey testicles taste like.

    Ew.

I had symptoms right away with all three of my pregnancies-I called it like two weeks before I could pee on a stick. The third one I actually bypassed the stick and just went into the doctor's office because I knew what was coming lol. I think some of us are just really sensitive to hormone changes?

How long has it been since the change started?

"You can't feed a future hunger." -Josie Spinardi.

    Eat when you feel hungry.
If you eat when you're hungry then you won't feel starved. If you're concerned you'll feel starving while in the class/meeting bring a snack you can sneak-eat, like almonds, or a protien shake poured into a prettier container, so no one cares that you are having a little something to tide you over.

And consider having a pregnancy test done at a clinic. I assume there are low-income/free testing places if you don't have medical insurance. If the Dr rules it out then tell them about the drastic change, maybe there's something else going on.

I don't think you need to worry about it.

It happens. Sometimes I'll go periods being hungry when I wake up, I'll have ''breakfast''
Then eventually I won't feel hungry early for a couple of months and will only eat Lunch 7-8hrs after waking up.

Eat when you are hungry and don't sweat it
