Beef consumption

I am curious how many people limit their consumption of beef. I'm wondering if that having beef as often as one wants is not a problem -- at least in terms of weight loss -- as long as one keeps to their calorie limits. I know I have heard from various corners that consuming beef hinders weight loss and I'm just wondering what MFP folks have found to be true.

I don't see it as a problem as long as you keep it lean and trim the fat. I don't eat it often due to the cost.0

I haven't limited beef and I've lost fine. Stick to your calories and it shouldn't matter.0

I eat it whenever I want it just making sure I stay within my dailies.0

I eat beef more than any other meat because it's much cheaper.0

Weight loss has nothing to do with how often you eat beef or chicken or fish or whatever...it's a simple mathematical formula. Your body requires XXXX calories to maintain weight...you cut back on calories and you lose weight...you eat more than your body needs and you gain weight. It's really that simple.
I require roughly 2700 calories to consistently maintain weight. Roughly 1,850 of those calories are just the calories my body needs to perform the basic functions of living; roughly 500 of those 2700 calories are "burned" by just doing my day to day stuff...driving to work, walking around the office, cooking, cleaning, fixing stuff around the house, etc...and roughly 350 calories per day are burned with exercise. So...we have established that I need roughly 2700 calories to maintain my weight...so I decide I'm going to eat 2200 per day...that is a 500 calorie deficit from my maintenance calories...over the course of a week, that is a deficit of 3,500 calories or roughly 1 Lb of weight loss.
Yes...it is that simple.0 -
I eat beef probably 4 days a week and i have never had trouble losing weight while dieting. Just stay within your daily calorie limit and you will lose no matter what you eat. Doesnt matter if it lean or not, just weigh your portion according to the type of beef and way its being cooked to make sure you dont go over your allowed calories.0

QFT. Eat at a deficit and you'll lose weight. End. Of. Story.0 -
I don't eat a lot of beef because I try to eat more fish than land animals and more poultry than red meat and I usually prefer pork to beef when eating red meat.
But I do this because of health recommendations. I don't think it makes any difference at all for weight loss.0 -
I limit beef consumption to steak, and only have it about once a month. I have not had hamburger since early 2012. It is just a personal choice for me though. I eat most things that I ate before, just in very limited quantities when it comes right down to it. No hamburger though, and have not had fast food except for Subway where I choose a veggie delight , Dairy Queen, I like their grilled chicken sandwich, and Jimmy John's Turkey unwich, again this is a personal choice.0
