Shot in arm. How sore will it get?

I just got a flu shot and the nurse said my arm would get sore. Does it get sore like a tetanus shot? I could switch my UB workout with my LB workout and go on and do arms before it gets sore tomorrow. Is it worth changing up my schedule, or should it feel fine either way?

Does yours get sore with these shots?

That is all up to you. I got mine Monday and all day my entire arm from shoulder to had was super sore. It even hurt to sleep on my side. I wouldn't have worked out my arms but that is just personal opinion.
  • Actually, contrary to what you might think, the more you move the less sore it should be. Generally, it should not be very sore at all, if you respond to shots like most people. Try massaging the spot on your arm where you got the shot to circulate the vaccine faster, and do try to move your arm every so often.

Whew, glad you just got a shot in the arm and were not shot in the arm! That would get pretty sore!

I don't get flu shots but I have heard people say this year that they were more sore than usual and even had flu like symptoms. If the shot is into the muscle of the arm (I assume it is) I would probably rest it for a few days personally no matter how sore it was.

I hardly ever get sore, but the rare occasions it does, it just feels like maybe someone punched you hard in the shoulder the day before. It doesn't really hurt to move, more just when it gets bumped or pressed on.

I'm sorry I thought this was about something else. I would ask the nurse when they give it to you.

A little stiff and sore when I got mine, but a workout actually helped it.

LOL!!! I didn't even think about that, but the title is shocking phrased the way I have it!

    Nope, not really shot :)

Thanks, y'all, for the info. I might just do my normal schedule and see about the lifting with it when that day comes up. I'll keep it moving in any case.

It hurt like a SOB after my tetanus shot, but other injections (flu shot, depo) in the arm just felt like a bump and a bruise, not a "it hurts to move it" kind of pain.

My arm is usually sore after shots, though I find tetanus shots to cause much more lingering pain than flu shots. I got my flu shot on Tuesday, then drove straight home and did some cardio boxing and L1 of 30 Day Shred and my arm hasn't been sore at all. I suppose it depends on you, but I think there is some validity to the idea that using your muscles will actually decrease injection-related soreness.

My tetanus shot kind of surprised me, and it was a pain to deal with lifting my suitcase after getting the shot for a trip. I'm glad to hear these aren't that bad.
