The Test of what to do with meal diaries

Diaries - open or not. Opening meal diaries is a personal choice. You may consider that you already know what to do and do not need outside eyes to critque you since you know you are going to lose the weight so having MFP friends is more for a social network vice support group.

Others; need that extra push. Desires critique and even specifically request it knowing that different people will see it different ways. The key is they know they are doing ok but they want to focus on improving, learning and becoming a healthier person.

Others more less: Do not want to be secretive. Accepts critique but really have their plan set out. They leave theirs open mainly as an example of wise choices. Choose as you will but remember if you are in it to win it you might want to reach out because it is hard to carry an elephant alone. We are here for each other as sisters and brothers. Lean on me if you need a MFP friend as I will lean on you. I am already leaning on Tahra and jabdye. The skies are clearing, full steam ahead.

To be honest, I like it open because on some occassions, it give new ideas on meals or snacks when you get in a rut. If you see someone losing consistently you can see how they are eating.

I like it when others leave their diaries open as well just to see what other people are eating, out of curiosity. It has given me ideas on new meal options and snacks. I leave mine open because my Mom's on the website, and she can see what I'm eating to get ideas as well. I also don't mind if someone looks at mine. cparter actually made a comment about how I must be treating myself since I had ate a lot of cheese one day (2 grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, and cheesy chicken chili for dinner) - and I didn't realize this until he mentioned it. I used reduced-fat cheese, but still - I shouldn't have ate the sandwiches for lunch if I did the cheese chicken chili for dinner. It's something I didn't pay attention to at first; now I watch how I eat throughout the day even more.

Mine is open to friends I appreciate when someone comments :flowerforyou: about my choices the only annoying thing is ... Wish people who leave a comment would read the diary notes might explain some choices ;):grumble:

People seem to judge without looking at the full picture lol ;) I say bring on the comments good  or bad  ... good ones make you smile and the bad ones you learn from :))

That's another reason I don't let strangers view it :) I have absolutely no problem adding anyone who sends me a request and if they want to comment on the diary at least let me reply
  • I have mine open. I figure if I am willing to make my diet public (diet being the term for what I eat every day not what I am on) then I will make better food choices.

I have made it my personal goal to complete, entirely and honestly, my diary for 6 out of 7 days. I am so excited to see that number grow.

I have never really thought that much about it actually. If people happen to check mine out and have some advice then I am happy to listen :) I have done a fair bit of nutrional research and know what my goals are so I guess what I eat could be vastly different to someone else with different goals anyway.

My diary is public, but I'm fairly private. I've actually gone and changed it a couple of times (in the fairly brief time I've been a member), but I change it back to public as a way of reminding myself that I have witnesses. It makes me a little uncomfortable, honestly, for my diary to be public. I mean, I don't eat in front of strangers, so it seems odd that they'd see what I ate....
