supersets

Options
Hi,

I just started supersets at the gym rather than having rest periods. So I alternate between lower and upper body (I go to the gym when it is very quiet so I can use two machines at once without annoying anyone) and have one minute rest before going on to the next superset.

I get through my workout a lot quicker AND my HR is elevated the whole time.

Today I used my HRM and it said I burned 380 cals in 45 minutes doing this. This is VERY different to the calorie burn that MFP gives me (170). So I'm wondering if I should eat back an extra 200 calories?

I know that HRM are not appropriate if your HR drops as in normal weight lifting - but is it appropriate when your HR is constantly elevated doing supersets?

I'm confused.

Cheers

I'd round it up to 200 calories burnt. I err on the edge of caution typically. HRMs are best at steady state cardio as far as calorie estimation, but can still end up way off.

    Thanks both of you.

I really was puffing the whole time so why might it be in error?
