Sisterhood of the treestumps...

Thick legs, bottom heavy... whatever you call it.. most of the remainder of my weight I'd like to lose, muscle I'd like to build, the part I'm looking MOST forward to leaning out.. I affectionately call my tree stumps. Would love to know how other ladies have handled this issue, what you are doing, how you are doing it, IS it working? :) For the last month I've been trying two leg days a week in the weight room, one heavy and a lighter one three days after, I also spin and run and I have seen a difference. But would love any other feedback.. I've read a lot about how typically you have to be 10 to 15 pounds under your "goal" to really see big changes in your "problem" areas.. no idea if this is true or not .. I'm hoping for not!

I hope not too. I also focus on my legs. Unfortunately you can't tell the fat where you want it to come off of first. My calves are actually starting to look really good and have slimmed down a bit but my thighs are moving much slower. good luck sister.

I do leg lifts...3 sets of 20. Floor exercises really produce results when done with cardio and weights. Any kind of squat exercise also did great things. I've done 40 lbs loss 2 x and it took a good 3 months of exercising 4 times a week to see big results. Hang in there...I am starting all over again with my tree trunks!!

Actually, you look absolutely fabulous! Congratulations on your weight loss.

I tend to be curvaceous no matter what weight I am at, and no matter how much I work out, but I think that's just the nature of my body. Some things we can change and other things we cannot.

    I don't mind having thicker legs. :)
I always kill with any lower body exercises.

I don't really have a goal in mind.
I just work hard and eat well and enjoy life.
I'm just about an average weight, I don't think dropping 10 pounds would make a huge difference (mainly because it would be very hard for me to maintain and would require more sacrifice than I care to give)

I wish there was a way to spot reduction. Oh, I would keep my upper body the way it was when I was heavier, and worked on the lower half. Unfortunately, weight loss doesn´t work that way. No hourglass figure here. I will be honest here, I do not like thicker bottom, don´t like big *kitten*, don´t like curvy hips. But isn´t it typical that we don´t like what we have? I am trying hard not to be negative towards myself, and accept what I have. I do lots of legs and butt workouts. I figured, if I can´t have thin bottom, might as well have fit one.

Ah, I was just looking/poking yesterday and saw exactly how much of my thighs are actually muscle. Definitely treestumps in some folks' opinions. I've heard what people say about Serena Williams (I'm not as thick, but she's a great example of the attitude).

My nickname from my brother growing up was Thunderthighs Teela (from Masters of the Universe). I've learned to embrace it, but sometimes it catches me off guard :)

Mine do lean out as far as most of the fat goes. Eventually ;) But they are still big. Frog-legs, I like to think. I knew a girl with frog-legs and thought it looked so awesome. She was very petite, but it should look just as awesome on a bigger girl, right? I say YES!

I control my lifting to avoid hitting all heads of the quads, I have to admit. I really like the look better. I know I should just embrace all my muscles at their fullest potential, but I'm sure that one little quad head won't mind too much ;)
