It depends on what kind of protocol your doing, in a circuit you would go for one min each station and go three times around having up to 16 stations. When just doing a normal workout you go by sets and reps.
Unless your talking about competition weightlifting? They go by 1RM or how many RM's you can do in a certain amount of time. To rep the weight there doing is nearly impossible so they just go by how long they can do it for.0
