Losing weight one healthy habit a week!

Hi there,

I'm creating this post because I am determined to reach my healthy BMI range by the time I'm 25, which means about 50lbs (25kg) in 6 months ( I've been told it's a hard but reachable goal).
I
So I found this website, where you adopt 1 habit a week for 16 weeks so you can lose weight the healthy way.

So I'm here trying to find people who would like to try it with me :)

Habit Week 1: Drink 8 to 10 glass of water everyday

I just want to encourage you. I've done this "one week transformation" thing and it really works!

I started with drinking 8 glasses of water a day.

Then I cut down on alcohol.

Then I cut down on caffeinated drinks.

Then I added breakfast each day.

Then it was walking one extra bus stop (train in my case).

It all adds up. And it works.

    Best of luck to you

i like the idea, but, i dont like the goals/habits

    1: track your calories accurately
    2. do some cardio daily
    3. start a strength training program
    4. calculate your TDEE and start eating at TDEE-20%
    5. start a training log
    6. eat a piece of fruit daily
    7. eat 3 servings or more of vegetables daily
    8. give up one of your "worst" trigger foods
    9. reward yourself once with any meal you like
    10. take measurements, take pictures, look in the mirror

tahts all i could think of... but.. you get the idea..i think its pretty common for people to be overwhelmed by dieting

I would cheat :-) I would definitely start walking more and cut out wasted calories as soon as possible - you wont regret it. I would also give this advice - its great to have a target and you have a strong one. I personally believe though our ability to hit goals on certain dates may be outside our control and may need modification. for instance if you are hitting 1.5 lb a week for 10 weeks (after the initial loss of water drop) it may not be sensible to try and do 2.5 for the next 10 weeks. You could do it but why risk breaking something that is working. Also I would recommend you learn about heath and fitness from people on this site. If you cut past peoples opinion there are some people with a lot of fact which seem more than willing to help us normal folk out :-) for instance

Good luck, keep going and don't stop and you will get there in the end

Thanks for the advice! My problem is I have never been able to stick with any diet correctly, which is why I wanted to try a simple one-step at a time method. Great links, I will read up on them and report on progress :)

    Hi all.

I have also started recently with drinking 8 glasses of water day.

What also has helped me is focusing on my nutrients and cut way back on the amount of carbs I take in. We really don't need all that many potatoes or bowls of pasta.

Those two has gotten me to losing 8 lbs in the last 3 weeks, but I am all for trying new things. Good luck to all!

I've never stuck with a diet until I found MFP but this really works. As I said really try and get involved. I found other peoples motivation rubs off on me so I hope do to :-) Good luck
