I am in my early thirties, around 5ft 5ins weight around 200lbs and aiming for around 140lbs. I have just started on MFP- finding it great! I would like some advice please - have people who have lost quite a bit of weight found they have ended up with lose arm skin (bingo wings) or saggy boobs? has anyone any advice on how to prevent this as I go down in weight (particular excersises, bio oil etc? anything?). Thanks and good luck on your journey!

Lose weight slowly, drink lots of water, and strength train to retain lean muscle mass. Make sure you're getting enough fat and protein in your diet - both help with keeping your skin healthy. I use coconut oil to keep my skin moisturized, but just make sure to keep your skin from getting too thirsty!
Being on the younger side will help you as well - better to lose now than to wait until your 40's. Genetics do play a factor - since I'm top heavy, I've lost little in terms of breast fat, but my thighs have suffered more from loose skin.
*The biggest thing, though - be patient. Your skin will continue to change going into maintenance, and that will be when you'll see some improvement because your skin will finally have time to catch up! It might not be perfect, but there can be improvement post weight loss.0 -
Thanks Pear Squared, will give your advice a go :0)0

Lift weights for your triceps, lats, and pecs. The boobs themselves aren't muscle, so this is for all the surrounding area. It won't affect the skin, but it will fill it in some with sexy toned muscle. Unless you are already buff in those muscles, I bet it will help!
One great exercise for those is a Dumbbell Pullover (read up on the form on this one because you want your chest high). You could hit the pecs better by adding any number of other moves, but if you just do one exercise for it, do that, imho0 -
Both PP are correct!!
My trainer(s) have had me do lots of triceps exercises to help with the bingo wings, and they don't jiggle as much as they used to.
They also have me do some pec exercises--chest press, bench press, pec flies, push ups, etc to build up my chest muscles and perk things up.
this is my before, and about 6 weeks ago--same shirt

this is when I started working with a trainer, when I switched trainers ( the first one moved), and 2 months ago. I only lost 3 lbs in that 7 month period.

Thanks cafeaulait7 and sarahrbraun! Will get on it :0) I weighed about 103kg a year ago, due to injury I hadnt moved much in 6 months, once the injury was sorted I lost about 9kgs easily and now am ready to really push for it, my boobs are ok (could be a little more lifted!) but am conscious of my arms, have already been unhappy with them for a long time, so really want to nail this as I go rather than get to a lower weight and realise I am not happy with whats left over. Looks like you have all donereally well on your journey. Thanks for the pics SarahrBraun - looking great, can really see a difference!
Right going home to google the excersises mentioned and start with a tin of beans until I can get me some weights :0)

If you can't afford a gym membership, look into DVD workouts from Jillian Michaels. Maybe you can get them in your local library or used ones in Amazon. They are not very expensive and you can find new ones in Target or Walmart too.
The DVDs will give you a total body workout (you will need light weights to start out), and you can increase the weights as you get stronger. There also several sites on line where you can find exercises to do at home using your own body.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks Ely82010 - yes a gym membership won't be possible, I kind of live out in the sticks! I have loads of great places to exercise outdoors though and space to do DVDs and strength training at home, think my body and the great outdoors have to be my gym for now! Have dipped into Jillian Michaels Shred and love it, I figured the way my arms burn at the end of the DVD was doing me good! I will look into some more online DVDs to down loads - thanks!! Well done on reaching your goal too :0)0
