Mirrors

If it bigger than the mirror on my bathroom cabinet, I wont look at it. I am officially ashamed of how I look. I could sit here and give you a millions excuses on how I've came to be so overweight but none of them would really matter because Id still be in my same situation that I am in now. In the past I've wanted to lose weight for all the wrong reasons, to just be skinny, to impress my friends whatever. But now I want to be healthy! that's it! Just healthy. I don't want to be labeled obese. I'm sick of that. I just want to be healthy and happy. I'm not sure what size that it'll take for me to reach that point but I not going stop until I do. I just want to be able to finally look in a mirror and see the person that I see myself on the inside.
So I come to MFP looking to motivation. To know that losing a large amount of weight is possible. I'm also here to help others in the same boat as me. We can do this together.

Like you I dont like mirrors plus I also dont like picutures. My motivation to lose weight was a heart attack at 48 years old, with no family history of heart disease and normal blood cholesterol levels. Like you I have always dieted for the wrong reasons; to be skinny, for a wedding, etc.... now I just want to be as healthy as possible. At my heaviest I was 291lbs (May 2012). Shortly after heart attack (Aug 2012) I decided I had to change the amount of food I ate. So I dont consider myself "dieting" I just changed the way I eat. The fitness pal app has been an important tool to help teach me how to eat. I love it and tell everyone about it. I have not used it in a couple of months but its time to get back to using it. I have not gained a single pound back since I left fitness pal. This fact tells me that it works and has helped me change my eating habits. I have gone from 291 to 216 lbs in 14 months. Very little to no excercise, I use the stationary bike for 15 minutes 2 to 3 times a week.0
