Not as long as you account for it! I like a glass of wine at night but I always count it.

It is empty calories, but if you have the room for it, you "can" have it. Just knwo you aren't doing your body any favors. I would suggest sticking by the "anything in moderation is ok" thought on that one.

My brother-in-law justifies his daily beer(s) by not having butter and exercising a lot. And yes, he's lost weight.

I will drink a beer every now and then. Miller makes a 64 calorie beer and Budweiser makes a wonderful 55 calorie beer. I do add it into my calorie count. Be careful though, alcohol inhibits weight loss.

I have heard that beer turns to sugar when it is in your body. This sugar will turn to fat. I always notice that I gain water weight from drinking any alcohol. I think you will hit your weight loss goals faster if you cut out the alcohol.

as long as you're counting it in your daily totals you should be fine, but if you want to speed your weight loss you might want to cut it out completely for a week or two and see how you feel. I like a glass of wine or a beer in the evenings but have cut down to only a few nights a week and I feel I sleep better now than I did. And better sleep=more energy to get moving!
  • Yes, up to 2 pints of beer a day is acceptable. Any more than that and it is downhill from there. Stay away from the so called "light" beers. They have fructose corn syrup in them and can be counter productive to your metabolism. Buy a nice craft beer or organic beer.

Yep, just account for it. I have the occasional Bud Select 55 (55 cal beer), but not much and it definitely hasn't slowed my weight loss at all.

I lost a heap of weight while still fairly reguarly binge drinking on weekends only. (I know not a good thing!) I would make sure that if I was going out on a Saturday night I would do a heap of exercise during the day. Was still under calorie targets most times. If you are going to drink then you have to do the exercise to make up for it.

Also, I believe the "beer belly" is a myth. Beer doesn't magically go straight to your belly. Google it, there are some good articles :)
  • BUMP...thanks for the insight....I usually have 3-4 beers on Fri/Sat night, every other weekend....crazy schedule, I know but its when I don't have my boys (11 & 13)......with UGA football coming, it will be an all day Saturday thing....my plan is for every beer, drink 8oz of water in between...pray for me!!!
