Eating Foods You Love Still Losing Weight!Anyone!

Isn't it great that even if we're cutting our calories and working out we can still eat the same foods that we love. I find it as a lifestyle change instead of a diet. it's like, even if I still eat junk foods or sodas i am still losing weight even with or iwithout exercise. I just have to eat in moderation. :D

How bout you? Do you still eat the same foods that you love and still lose weight?

YESS although the one thing I won't eat is chinese takeout. I can't even begin to guess or estimate how much oil is in my favorite tofu & broccoli dish..probably a scary, scary amount. So I've sadly said goodbye for now :) But I've managed to eat pizza and bagels occasionally and still lose weight. winwinwinwin.

I'm having gnocchi for dinner and hot chocolate afterward. Happy girl! Down almost 4kg in my first month here :)

For me the easiest and best thing that works is having 2 of my 'usual' meals (say breakfast and lunch) and then have a whey shake and banana for dinner. With all the snacks in between.

Just replacing 1 meal with a shake and fruit has worked great for me. I love that I can still eat the things I enjoy :)

All things in moderation, portion size and avoiding eating out. This is my new way of eating. As long as I stay within my calories for the day it works for me.

Yep, I eat it all, drink it too. ;)

The fewer the rules the better ... Grains, legumes, dairy? Pile 'em up!

I love Chinese, and most other ethnic foods. They are in the same calorie range as pizza. 1/4 of a thin crust box pizza is about 300 calories. 1 cup of most stir fry is about the same. Plan ahead, and have it when you want it. Totally avoiding it could do more damage to long term success than having it occasionally. The MSG and salt are more likely to show immediate weight gain than the damage of the oil long term. If you eat it, give yourself about 3 days to get the retained water out of your system before assuming that the increase on the scale is real weight gain as opposed to water retention.

Totally! I eat the same way I always have and the only real adjustment I've made is to weigh and measure everything and control my portion size.

    What a revelation!

Yes!! I would explode if I couldn't indulge in a pumpkin spice latte or soon to come peppermint mocha! :3 I love that there is nothing in my daily routine that's forced for the sake of my diet. I feel right, I feel right.

Yep. Have self-starved in the past, over excercised at times and never been happy with food, because it always felt like it was all too complicated. Now I eat what I want, though I try not to go too high fat/sugar too often and try to think of the fibre content, and I've lost 25 kg in 298 days. I drink wine. I eat chocolate. I go out to eat. I went to Asia for two weeks....

I win :P In fact, we all do, because this is a victory, learning to eat like this!

Yes. But I've also found new foods I like that I didn't think I would. So that's a plus. I still eat my chocolate everyday. Today was some halloween candy. Yum. In moderation is the only way to go. Its unrealistic to say I'll never have ice cream or fast food again.

I have to pick and choose them more often that I like, but it's not that hard. They actually taste better if I don't have them as often. I'm not the sort of girl who eats 2 tiny slivers of cheese. Huh-uh. Or exchanging brie for cottage cheese? Just no. So I space out some things, and that's fine.

Some things are really easy to exchange, though, if I look at the calories. I had no idea some desserts were way better in calories than others at the same size and stuff.

Or when you used to eat a ginormous muffin because that's what they had, and now you cut it in half? Yeah :) I do think expanding portion sizes offered caught me off guard to a great extent. I even choose 'muffies' now. I was put off by the stupid name; I'll admit it!

My diary is a novel of all things bad for you and sort destroying. Nothing clean, very very dirty diary. I have logged six beers, burgers, and a full helping of chinese food and chocolate in one sitting.

I have lost from 165lbsthe to 135lbs. I have better abs than my SO, my arms and legs are very defined and I spent this month eating subway (whilst having my MFP friends curse out bread) and managed to go from 140 to 135 in 3 weeks. Will likely be 133lbs at the end. All with evil bread, beer and quarter pounders

funny thing is that i've been eating "healthy" for many years now, probably my whole life. THAT was never the issue. my problem has been portion sizes and ... let's say 'number of meals per day'... see, if i have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack snack snack snack, well the weight is going to be piling on. and even if the snacks are whole grain crackers with cheese, by the tenth cracker i'm way over my limits. same with fruit - there's a difference between one cup of grapes and three. or one portion of chicken and rice and two. and so on.

so ---- yes, i continue to eat the foods i love (which are basically healthy foods; what can i say - i love this style of eating/cooking!) but i make sure to follow portion control, log everything, and don't stress out about the occasional (note i said "occasional") overindulging.

the good news is that I am starting to like this. I notice that when i occasionally get chinese take out or falafel or something - i don't always feel great afterwards (headaches, very thirsty, stomach aches etc).

Haha, that was my problem too for the most part. Healthy home cooked meals but big portions plus snacking! I also tended to skip breakfast and sometimes lunch due to being too busy at work, and thought that justified pigging out in the evening :embarassed: so my day often went more like latte for breakfast, nothing for lunch, snack snack snack dinner snack snack snack!

I now cook the same stuff that I like but keep portion under control and actually have breakfast and a quick bite to eat for lunch. Like on Monday I had beef wine stew with buttery mashed potatoes for dinner and yesterday was chicken with couscous, but it all fits my calories and other macros

MFP has been amazing at helping me get my head round a balanced diet. Hopefully I now have it sorted for life!

I've found I'm eating more of the foods I love. Goodbye crappy croissant for breakfast, hellooooo bacon and eggs.

I was brought up on the 'fat is evil' mentality. I'm finally learning that it's a bad thing to cut it out entirely.

(Note the crappy croissant comment is a statement of its quality.... not a value judgement on croissants or other bready produce!)
