So how does it work? When following a diet, with an average planned weightloss of about 2 lbs a week, where does the weight actually come off when we can fluctuate by two lbs or more if we are weighing daily. Explain this PMS thing too.
I know, we shouldn't weigh daily (honestly I forget to weigh myself for a few weeks at a time in the last few months).
Water weight and other things aside, I just don't see how anything will come off. I screw up often, but not horribly, like I eat 1800 calories instead of my goal of 1400 or 1300. I seem to be basically maintaining since my nasty little gain finishing college. So I stick to my "healthy" diet, where I watch calories, try to make better choices, walk more, exercise, etc. So I hum drum along doing this for weeks. I see a loss. Not much, just 227 down to 223.Then eventually, I have that gain of 5-8lbs near the "time of the month". I hit the 227 or tops of 229, after about a week and a half of that nonsense, my weight begins to slowly creep back down to that 223 over that same few weeks. So how do I get out of this? It's like this odd cycle where for 3-5 weeks I'm slowly losing, the "HEALTHY" way and I gain it all back during that time. And it's really very odd because I'm not very regular. I can actually tell when I'm likely to get it simply by the weight I'm "gaining back", rather than any monthly regularity. I've gone up to 55 days in the last year betwee. I've seen a Dr. They recommend b/c. I noticed a hefty gain when I first was on it and then I had a dramatic loss (break-up and decided to go off pill, because who needs it if you're not gettin busy...) I don't really like being on it. I'd rather not add hormones, and the majority of these pills warn you that they may cause weight gain.

I usually get more water retention while menstruating. My weight goes up and then decreases after menstruation is over. I guess is a normal fluctuation for me. I do not mean it will be the same for you. You need to talk with a medical specialist if you have issues.
weight loss is a matter of caloric deficit. You have to eat less than you burned. Please check above link. I have lost 20 lbs with MFP tool help.

Do you weigh all your food? It's very easy to underestimate calories when you don't. You have to log everything you eat and eat less than you burn, that's about it. If you're not losing weight, you're eating more than you think.
For me, a week before my period I gain 2 lbs, I lose them 2 days after my period starts then lose more weight for the next 10 days... then repeat. But typically I'll gain 2 back then lose way more than I gained back in those 10 days.0 -
When did you get off the pill? It can take time for your body to readjust to it's own hormone cycle, and that can cause extra bloating and water retention during your period. When I started taking the pill in March, I had a slight uptick in weight, but once I adjusted, it actually assisted in my weight loss because my periods were regular and the pill helped with my pms symptoms significantly (which is why I went on the pill in the first place, not for the actual birth control part).0

I am on a low-estrogen pill. i definitely get bloated around my TOM. usually it starts a day or two before and goes a few days into my period. my weight typically spikes a bit as well. my advice would be to keep accurate to your weight loss calorie intake. a few off days are fine...but try to let those be only once in a while...and when you do eat above your weight loss level...try to keep it a little below or at maintenance.0

Are you drinking enough water? I find my period weight gain and other symptoms are MUCH worse when I don't get some extra water in.0

Interesting ideas. Yes. I count carefully and weigh food. Been off the pill for 4 years. I don't drink enough. So maybe that will help.0
