Project Wolf Run

Hi
My friend and I are training to do the wolf run next year - a 10k run involving a mud run, obstacle course and trail run. I have started training at the gym 3 times a week to start with, but will gradually increase that as it gets closer to the time.
We have no idea on the kind of shoes to wear for this sort of exercise? They need to have grip but also be easy to run in - we were thinking maybe running spikes? However part of the run includes a lake swim, so running spikes may not be ideal...
Does anyone have any experience of this and has any tips for us?
