I don't count individual veggies because it takes to long because I try to eat lots of greens and non-starch veggies. So I just average non-starch veggie calories at 40 calories per 1 cup of steamed/cooked veggies (obviously not including sauces etc)
I started off not counting veggie calories at all, but now I want to eat more veggies! So I am counting.
What do you think? Do you think this average is ok?
I averaged 1 cup calories of cooked broccoli/ eggplant/ mushrooms/ spinach/ tomato/ asparagus / and some more,. They seemed to be between 20 - 50 cals per 1 cup.
I have got into the habit of pre cutting up mixed veggies and having ten ready to steam or add to a stir-fry etc. That works for me so ai m not prepared to weigh these individually .
