Does anyone count the calories burned during Yoga as cardio calories/ strength calories to eat? I did yoga for the first time tonight and wore my heart rate monitor, which said I burned 192 in 52 minutes of class... thoughts? opinions? I also ran 3.5 miles this morning and calisthenics so I am not using yoga as my only form of exercise... Thanks in advance

I always count my wii fit yoga as part of my cardio. It says I burn 100 calories in the 36 minutes that I do it.0

Of course count them.
eat them if you want.
I usually only eat about 1/2 of my exercise calories.
But that's just me.

Absolutely.......calories are calories! Good for you on the Yoga! It is good for all of you! I have started incorporating Pilates and Yoga this summer after a surgery. I was unable to do aerobics for a while. I am so glad I was forced into that. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. You don't see the big calorie burn like you do with aerobic exercises, but you see toned and lengthened muscles. You feel more flexible and less stressed! Go Yoga and Pilates! :flowerforyou:0

I know that sounded like a crazy ( obvious ) question, but I felt so calm while I was doing the yoga that I thought, my heart rate feels slow.. I am used to doing at least 30 minutes where my heart rate is mid 160- 170s..so this was definitely a change.. i felt guilty adding them to my calories burned because i felt super relaxed the whole time i guess0

I count them! I like to see how much "fat" is burnt. I noticed I burnt 60% fat percentage of burnt calories yesterday of 56mins of yoga than I did with my interval workout (32mins) which was only 30% fat of burnt calories.
So from what I've noticed is, I seem to burn more fat but less calories on a low intensity workout, and burn less fat on a high intensity workout but more calories.0
