Finally Hit That Plateau

 It took me two months of steady weight loss (and feeling good) to finally hit that plateau. I have been the same weight for 3 weeks now! I know I have begun "cheating" on the weekends, but upping the exercise and keeping to my calories during the week should still be producing some sort of weight loss. I was losing too much to quick, so I am trying to slow it down - however, it has come to a complete standstill! How do you get over the plateau? Just keep going? Do something different? Ugh! I am so frustrated!

I understand, been there done that. Just remember that the plateau is your body adjusting i.e. lean muscles overtaking bulky fat. You're not seeing it on the scale but you're still doing great things for your body. The scale is not the master. Just remember that the plateau will end and you'll see it move (the right direction) again. Good luck!0

Yep, I hear you. I'm just coming off of one of those. Nearly four weeks of flatline weight loss. I was so dejected and frustrated, but I just kept with it and reminded myself that it isnt ALL about the weight and pushed though (the exercise and the tears!). Last week I had a good loss and this week I'm on track for one of my best weeks ever. Stay with it, even if the weight isnt coming off, your body is getting stronger making each workout more intense than the last!0

This is going to sound crazy but...
Don't workout for a couple of days, give your body some time to rest and when you workout again completely change up your routine. For me the plateaus come when my body has become too used to my workout and food routines and once I give my body some time to rest and relax and change things up she comes back around.
Good luck to you and hang in there, it will start coming off again.0 -
My Mom tells me that if I lose a pound a week it is easier to keep it off. It is also healthier for you to only lose a pound a week. Sometimes when we hit the plateau you have to up the ante a little bit. Change the exercises, change something about each meal. You will begin to lose again. Go back to the basics of when you started losing the weight.
I have faith in you that it will be a great result in the end.0 -
If you haven't taken your measurements, now is a good time to start. The longest plateau I had was just over 3 weeks, but I lost 3.5 inches off of my waist. I'll take inches lost over lbs lost any day! Try not to let the scale be your only measurement for your progress.
When I first started exercising, my face would turn purple:embarassed: seriously, I'm not exaggerating, purple! Now my cheeks get flushed, but I'm a healthy shade of pink, not purple, woohoo!!! I also have noticed my heart rate recovery is so much faster now. I can run for upto 8 minutes, couldn't hardly run for 30 seconds when I started. I can row for 10-12 minutes, 2 minutes about gave me a heart attack when I started:ohwell: I can swim laps for 40 inutes consecutively, when I started I could only make 4 laps without a break! So what I'm saying is as much as we all want the scale to move, try to look for the other ways you are improving your health, I know there are many!
Your plateau will end, I promise:flowerforyou:0
