HI EVERYONE!

I'm a Stay at home mom and I weigh 315 lbs. Well, I'm down 8 lbs, but that's not the point. I'm the biggest I have been in my life, and I want to change that. I'm breastfeeding, which puts restrictions on how much I can cut my calories and all, but I am eating well and trying to cut out the constant grazing I normally do. I'm on the pill and have felt constantly hungry since I went on it six months ago, and have gained 25 pounds since my son was born! I'm upset I let myself get this big, but am determined to do my best to be healthier in my eating habits! I need lots of friends to keep me on track, as my husband won't try to lose with me, and I have nobody in my life (aside from some online friends) who will kick my butt if I don't keep at this! If its just me, I will give up after a few weeks, and I will be right where I started at and then some. Add me-I need some motivation to stay at this! Thanks for reading this, everyone-I'm excited to get this really started!

There are so many people in a similar situation on this site. You are definitely among friends here.
Congratulations on your first 8 pounds lost! Things that I learned:
Drink at least 8 cups of water a day.
Sodium (salt) is in so many foods and drinks and it causes water retention, high blood pressure, etc.
- Sodas, colas, pop, soft drinks--whatevever you call it in your area, have so much sodium, whether they are diet or not.
-- If you adore them, then wean yourself off a little bit at a time. Add a little water to the first glass of cola. Each day, add a little more. After a couple of weeks, you may be down to 1/4 cup cola in your healthy glass of water. The water is flavored, the sodium is reduced 75%, this is good.
-- 100% water, with a touch of lemon juice would be even better.
- Deli meats are also high in sodium. Try baked, boiled, grilled chicken without skin, turkey without skin, fish, lean beef.
- Chips, which we all love, are high in sodium. Slice potatoes, carrots, bellpepper, any veggies you like. Lightly drizzle them with olive oil, or your favorite vegetable oil (about a tablespoon), maybe apply Mrs Dash (lo-sodium) spice, bake. They are very good. The computer can probably give you a more accurate recipe.
- Homemade soups, with lots of veggies, are great.
- Fresh fruits are wonderful--fiber, vitamins, antioxidents for healthy cells. (I cannot just bite into fruits, so I pulverize them in my food processor and mix them with fat-free yogurt or milk.)
I hope I helped, rather than overwhelmed you, with these suggestions.
Enjoy your stay on this site. Hug the baby from all of us. And have fun while you figure out a healthier way to live your life. :drinker: (water)0 -
Hi ! Welcome to MFP and congratulations on the 8 lb weight loss. I joined this site a week ago and lost 5 lbs my first week. It's wonderful to have friends that keep you motivated and accountable. The message boards are a great place to find healthy recipes and support. There are lots of things in life that we cannot control, ie, other people, certain situations, but the one thing we can control is ourselves - what I put in my mouth, how much I exercise is 100% under my control. I know I can loose 50 lbs and I know you can reach your goal. One day at time, one pound at a time. My sister weighed 360 lbs and she's down 49 lbs as of yesterday. She is so motivated now that she realizes that this is something she can do.
Good luck on your journey. I am sending you a friend request. :flowerforyou:

Welcome! I just joined this week. I recently had a baby (she will be 10 months 8/12) and know it can be hard to diet while breastfeeding. I stopped breastfeeding when my baby was 8 months. While I was breastfeeding I was hungry all the time. I tried to watch what I was eating and kept waiting for this big weightloss that everyone talks about while breastfeeding. It didn't happen.
This is a great site and I know you will find a lot of support. I don't have any friends yet and would love to add you. We can help motivate each other. I have (at least) 93lbs to lose so I need all the help I can get.0
