Ok, so I had a question....I just switched work shifts and will be working 2000-0400. I plan on waking up, working out, eat dinner, have a snack on shift then have breakfast when I get off shift, and finally go to sleep shortly there after. How should I log this? Should I log the days seperate? Or should I log dinner, snack, breakfast for the time I am awake even tho it overlaps days?
Thanks for the advice......

Whatever you want, as long as you're consistent (including days off). You don't even have to be all THAT consistent - shoot for hitting a weekly calorie goal instead of a daily one, if that works for you - it's easy if you have the phone app, there's a nifty little graph. But, really, it doesn't matter - your body doesn't know when the clock changes. Do whatever is easiest.

My food gets logged for the day from the hours I am awake to when I go to sleep. I work swing shift so this works best for me.

The food diary gives you an option to go back and log something you ate the day before, so you can log dinner and snack on the day before and breakfast on your new day. Also, it is best to log food that you eat within 5 hours of consuming it or you will forget and it will have already been digested by then. I set my rule by writing things down on paper first then log them online to calculate my intake for a 24 hour period. That seems to be working for me. I have lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks.

I would log my lunch break (assuming it happens after midnight) brealkfast and dinner on the calendar dday I eat them. I would also custom set my meal titles to that on my diary. I would have to do that to keep from confusing myself.

Ultimately, it comes down to what works for you. You may send up trying a few thins before you find that.
  • I think that as long as you're logging it, it really shouldn't matter. An apple consumed on Monday has the same calories as an apple consumed on Tuesday. I think you should do whatever is easier. I'm working out with my trainer on Thursday and Friday and I will ask her what she thinks. If she has something different to say, I will let you know. Good luck!!
