Running is awesome. Never let anyone convince you that you cant do it because of your size:

Kelly Gneiting, a 400-pound sumo wrestler, set a Guinness World Record as the heaviest man to complete a marathon, after finishing on Sunday in 9 hours 48 minutes 52 seconds.

Gneiting weighed 396.2 pounds after the marathon, smashing the past world record of 275 pounds and beating his 2008 marathon time of 11:52:11.

"I'd like to see the Kenyan improve his marathon time by two hours," he joked.

I heard Manny Yarborough is trying to lose weight as well. Not sure if running is the best option though, must be hard on the knees with all that upper body weight. Hope it works out for him though

I am not going to debate your point about it being hard on the knees. Clearly this was a major achievement for him. I just want people to know that anything is possible. With lots of hard work the "impossible" can be achieved.

That is an awesome goal! However running enough to train for a marathon likely will result in significant weight loss.

Assuming he ran all of it, that's a 6500 calorie burn....

If the numbers are clear he lost about 4lbs during the run, so that's about right, considering he would've sweated buckets too.

That's such an awesome story. I love jogging and can't wait to get my ankle back into good shape so I can do it again.

You should go for it. You just might motivate another overweight (no offense) person to try to break your record. Let us know if you decide to do this. :flowerforyou:
