Too fast?

Today is my one week anniversary on MFP, and I have lost nine pounds. I'm meeting my calories, and I went from 0 minutes of exercise to 45 minutes of strenuous exercise. I started at 240lbs.
I'm a little concerned with losing too fast, I hear it leads to all kinds of problems. Am I losing too fast? Do you think that my body will "correct" itself? Of course, I'm leaning toward thinking my body is saying "IT'S ABOUT TIME, WOMAN!!!!"
What do you think?

That's what this site is all about. You want to stick to the amount of calories it tells you to intake. The more you exercise the more you can eat and still lose weight. #1 thing is you need to eat more than 1200 cals. a day. Even if you think you're not hungry your body needs it. Good luck.0

That is a lot in one week... However, the first week or 2 are usually the biggest drops. Then, things tend to slow down.0

I started at 236. Lost about 11 in first 2 weeks, then it slowed right down to 2ish pounds per week (some weeks a bit more, some weeks a bit less). I also had concerns about how much I was losing during my first 2 weigh-ins, so decided that if it continued that I would have to reevaluate my intake and output.0

I too dropped the first chunk of pounds quickly I think my changes in eating habits and getting off the diet soda let me drop a bunch of water the first week or so, could be true for you too!0

I agree, it's water weight.
I'm get a little worried when people jump in head first and go from 0-90mph when deciding to get in shape. The desire fades quickly when you torture yourself for a couple of weeks, the results start slowing and many people tend give up. Being entusiastic and taking the first step is great, I commend you for that. Just set realistic goals. You may not need a "bootcamp" routine to start with. I totally agree with the other member who said to do what your Food diary/calorie counter recommends. This way, you won't lose weight too quickly and have to deal with the loose skin folds a year from now. Try not to loose more than 5 lbs per week and start with a beginer workout routine for at least the first 4 weeks, then you can bump it up a notch. Give your body the time it needs to acclimate to the changes you're subjecting it to.
If you need a beginer workout try: http://realfitness4realpeople.blogspot.com/2009/09/beginner-fitness-routine-that-works.html I also have some other very good ones on my personal blog, that many clients have had great success with. Good Luck!0
