Success and Setting New Goals

This morning, I met my weight-loss goal of 38-pounds lost!
Back on July 16, I started MFP with a weigh-in at 223. This morning, I weighed 184 (39 pounds lighter). Before I even began using this platform, I used diet to drop from an all-time high of 229. In total, I've lost 45 pounds, the large majority of them by counting calories at MFP. Daily intake has been 1700 calories, and I've been diligent about keeping in bounds, with only a few exceptions related to travel and vacation.
I have a lot more energy as well as more motivation to get fit and stay fit. My BMI is now in a healthy range, and I have become so much more aware of what I put into my body. I've taken up running, completed a C25K program, and run my first 5K, at which I even won my flight ("Masters" runners over 40).
Moving forward, I set a an additional 10-pound weight loss goal, and I'm transitioning into a 10K training program. In fact, I'm about to go do W9D2 in the Zen Labs schedule. I have my annual physical in about a month, and I'm curious to see if my blood work comes back with more positive results.
With a healthy dose of discipline, MFP has worked well for me. I can't say enough good things about the access to food information and the way this platform takes the tedium out of counting calories.

Oh that's great to hear!!
What type of exersize did you do in the beginning of your dieting? ( I'm having a major brain fart on how to spell excersize) excercize ..........ugh...work out. What type of work out did you do?
I'm trying to do MFP suggested calories of 1200 a day, but as fast as I want to see results, I don't think that is a realistic number right now.
Congratulations on your success!!!0 -

Congratulations on your success!!!
The first month, I walked a lot, usually in 2-4 mile increments. Not leisurely strolls, but honest, brisk walking (4 mph). I did so in part to strengthen legs and knees for the C25K I was planning.
1200 a day seems tough. I was grouchy and short the first few weeks of adjusting to 1700 a day. You might want to manipulate your pounds-per-week expectation and then bump it up once you've gotten more acclimated.0 -
