352lb guy on a mission.

HI All

Yes I was 352lb and defiantly on a mission , in the past week and 3 days of diet and gym work I have managed to get to 335lb , a few people have told me this rapid weight loss is not good ?? would this be a lot of water retention ? im not taking any supplements just diet and exercise , my fitness pal has helped me work out what intake im putting in my body , at a massive 3840 cals a day before, I have cut that down to 2100-2300 a day ,

I already feel loads better , less sluggish and actually want to go to the gym , I have a husky too so it helps I walk him 6 miles a day , the only concern I have is last time I lost weight I went from 25st to 20st 2lb I had a lot of loose skin . is there anything I can use or do to stop this happening again , I felt better in my fat body with no loose ugly skin , so don't want this happening again and im certainly not going under the knife at 26 !!

Im thinking of having ago at this INSANITY , but some people have told me with my weight I could be putting my body under a lot of pressure , Its hard explain but I don't look like your "normal" (was !! :) )25st guy, when I ask people they say I look around 18st (and that's personnel trainers) im 5ft 11 and very stocky . my job doesn't help as im sat at a desk all day , and im even considering a career change due to this as my health needs to come first .

Any help and Guidance would be amazing ..

Thanks guys :)

Don't listen to people with negative feed back. listen to what your body is telling you. I wouldn't worry about rapid weight loss. You have a lot to lose so the pounds will come off fast. I dropped 30 lbs in 5 weeks. As far as Insanity goes, well once again listen to your body. My body tells me to wait a while before I start jogging any sort of distances because it would be really hard on my joints. Youtube has all kinds of cardio workouts. I like the 1 or 2 mile ones personally. I don't know how long you have been at it but try and keep it fun that way you have a better chance on keeping it going. Remember no excuses and log your food everyday. You can send me a friends invite, I would love to be your friend.

I would keep out your current routine for a few more weeks and see how it goes, alot of people do experience large drops early, like you said water weight and less gut fill from eating less. If in a few weeks you are still dropping that rapidly then you can re-evaluate. Like Sobone said, with alot to lose you can drop faster, but if you end up hitting a wall and just feeling tired run down then you can think about upping your calories a bit and losing a little more slow. I think people say to help keep from getting lose skin you can try to lose slower, but mostly I think it is just genetic, you either get it or you don't. Keep it up, it looks like you are off to a great start!

From what I found when doing some research, people who add strength training along with cardio don't tend to have as much of a problem with loose skin. Good job on what you have done so far. If you are concerned, check in with your doctor every few months to make sure everything is okay.
