Trying to wean myself back into MFP

Ok, so I need some ideas here. I am returning to mfp for some help. I lost 25 pounds on here a couple years ago. I logged and exercised every day and then I gave up. I have no reason as to why I gave up, I just did. I need to get back into good habits but mcdonalds keeps calling my name. I am an emotional eater and very stressed out at work and come home to my very active 9 month old. I have NO will power whatsoever anymore and I get mad at myself all the time. I just wish I could snap my fingers and the old me would come back full force. I am thinking that mybe if I ease my way back into mfp I will be slowly but surely back to my old good ways again. Maybe my first goal is to make sure I log everything for a straight week so I can see how many calories I'm actually consuming a day. If I try cold turkey I am only making room for failure. Any tips for me??? V.

I think your cold turkey statement answers your own question. If you did it before you can do it again just start off the same way you did then. Good luck.0

I'd jump in head first...give it all you've got! Especially if you've been here before. Start researching stress relief techniques (like yoga when the baby goes to bed) or deep meditation and relaxation therapies. That's what you figure the problem is, then that's what you fix.0

My rule is that it's always easier to add than take away. Don't cut out everything right away, if you don't want. When I started I added healthier foods that I wanted to eat more of. Soon, those became more important to me than the other things so the other things started to be wanted less.
Ex. My snack would be chips and a coke. I would make sure I had some yogurt or cheese and crackers with meat first. Usually, I didn't want the other stuff or if I did, I didn't eat as much as I would have. You just need to find what works for you and is sustainable.0 -
Thanks! I did cut everything cold turkey the first time, but for some reason it was so easy te first time and this time it's SO DIFFICULT! I used to be addicted to mfp and now it's a miracle if I log breakfast!0

I lost last year starting at about this time till march then barely lost over the summer and did not excercies. Once the kids started back to school I planned on picking right back up, and yeah...not so much. I did get to the gym more and did notice that i was not gaining, but lost some inches (not much cause I was still not really logging). Last year, I was talking about how it would be cool to have a fitbit cause that could help me visualize my calorie burn and I could see for sure how much I vary from day to day. Hubby bought one for me last week as an early xmas present, and it has turned me around. I am 99% on track for logging and I wear it everywhere (i use loseit not mfp) and its cool cause it connects to both. It really has made a difference and I am back on track for losing this last 25 to 30lbs. I just have the little zip one but it has worked well for motivating me to get up and walk around so I can have that caloric deficit that I am looking for.0

I'd just go for it. Set yourself up with a small deficit at first, and take it from there. Log everything from this moment on! Good luck getting back on track. It's doable. This is my...third...fourth go at MFP since 2009, and I've had more success this time around than any of the other times. Don't wait for the motivation, though. Just do it. Some days you'll be motivated; some days you won't. Decide why you want it, and keep your eye on the prize.0

Very true. I do need to just jump into it. Thanks for saying that. I also have been reading up on the forums in my down time. as for the fitbit, I do not have one. I saw it on ...don't laugh... QVC! Haha and I was going to get it but I wasn't sure it was with it. Can you connect then to your iPhone?? I will look into getting one. Are they pretty accurate?0

I love my Fitbit Flex and it connects to iPhones just fine (not to Android and I think you would need a later generation of iPad than I have for it to work). Accuracy on calorie burn is tough to determine, honestly (I think it estimates a bit high, but I'm still losing weight so...) but I find that it is extremely motivating and provides useful metrics, summarized weekly, so you can always be in competition with yourself to do better, go further, be more active.0 -
I am right their with you haha today is day 1 and im off work next week so it will be the true test to see if i can stay strong this time0

I have had a fitbit for a couple of weeks now and it is very motivating- can't hide from it!
I got mine from amazon for $87. I've lost 3 lbs in the past 2 weeks so I am stoked!0 -
