Is the fitness calculator accurate?

I played basketball yesterday for 90 minutes. Do you really burn almost 1100 calories playing basketball for 90 minutes?
This seems extraordinarily high to me because that means I basically had to eat twice what I am allotted in a day and it was hard to choke down enough food to come close to even.

Like any calorie calculator, it's an estimate. It will be right for some people, off for others.
IMO, any time a calculator gives you a burn of more than 10 cals per minute, I get suspicious. It's certainly possible to do, but I wouldn't automatically trust a calculator in that case.
So for you, 90 minutes @ 10 cals per minute would be 900 cals. Is 1100 possible? Absolutely. Is it likely? Hard to say, but I'm skeptical.0 -
I will be sure to keep the 10 cals/min in mind from now on, I like that estimate.0
