Trying to wrap my brain around the high calories

Hi

I have been eating 1200 calories since I started on the web site (recommended by this site). I just checked my BMR with Katch-McArdle formula. It says my BMR is 1637. On the fat2fitradio website, I am told that I should be eating a whopping 1756 AHHHHH. This is so hard to wrap my brain around.

Could I get some feedback please. Is this right? Will I loose faster by eating more? Wow. As it is, I am loosing a lb a week right now although I am having a hard time keeping under my caloric rate of 1200.. How wonderful if I could loose a little faster. Huh.

I underate for a while, starting feeling the negative side effects (fatigue, dizziness, dark circles under the eyes, extremely inconsistent weight loss) and finally gathered the courage to eat more. Went from 1000-1200 calories to 1500-1700 and what do you know? I lose weight at the same rate I did before, just more consistently. Not big chunks every few weeks, which was frustrating. I didn't lose any weight while I gradually increased my calories, but as soon as I hit a good intake and maintained it for a couple of weeks, I started losing again.

Try it out, give it two or three weeks, and see if you keep losing weight. If not, you can always go back down again, no harm done. I think now that you should eat as much as you possibly can while still losing weight, because food and energy are awesome.

Since this is a learning process for what's right for your body (I started with 1450 at 5'11, lost 4 lbs within 3 weeks than STOPPED, upped to 1600, started losing steady again), how about you do 1300/daily (net) for 2 weeks, 1400 daily (net) for 2 weeks, and 1500 daily (net) for 2 weeks and 1600 daily (net) for 2 weeks, and 1700 daily (net) for 2 weeks and see how you go? Then your body won't go into shock, you can see what caloric intake works best? You'll never know until you try and if you could eat 1700 daily and lose the fastest, wouldn't you?

You may not lose more or faster but you will feel better and maintain your health if you at least eat closer to your BMR. You aren't doing yourself any favors by under eating.

I've lost 6 lbs a month in average for 9 months eating between 1600 and 1700, and I'm not even THAT active (I just do some sort of exercise, mostly walking, one hour a day).
