snacks after 8pm?

Thursdays are always a late night for Zumba. When I get home from work, I eat about 5:15, then leave for Zumba at 6:15. I'm home between 7:45 and 8:00 and was wondering if a snack would be alright this time of nite. I would have 1 slice of whole wheat bread and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Then off to bed at 9:00.

I try to have some kind of protein only. 1 or 2 tblsp of peanut butter or a prtein shake. Have your peanut butter, don't have the bread! Sweet Dreams!

Staying at your calorie goal is what matters, nit when you eat. Regularly throw down 1000+ calories after 9pm

Please explain why the no bread? :noway:

@OP, meal timing doesn't matter, it's completely irrelevent to weight loss. If you are hungry then eat and don't worry about the clock. You could eat it straight in bed and have pizza for all your body cares, unless it disturbs your sleep.

I usually have my last snack right after the kids go to bed at 8 and sometimes it is not a heatlhy snack but it is within my calories goals. I have been losing every week. I tend to agree with the fact that it is how much for the day and not when you eat it.
  • If you're hungry at 8, eat. Robbing your body of food when it's asking you for some isn't exactly healthy.
  • I really like some greek yogurt with some pb2 stirred in... filling, satisfying, and it doesn't disturb my sleep.

That sounds good! Thanks for the idea.

pumpkin ice cream with cookie butter on it. figured out my snack for tonight. yum.

and op i have a snack every night. some sort of ice cream, some sort of sugar, some sort of yummy heaven in my mouth right before bed (within my calories) and it is NOT stopping my weight loss. So dont fret over pb and bread. eat that *kitten* and enjoy your sleep with a full tummy.

If it works for your body then go for it.

For me I find I don't do well if I eat after 7pm. I feel bloated and don't sleep well if I eat late.

I usually come home at 11:30 PM and eat several eggs- or a full 5 oz of animal in some form and 5 oz of veggies *(I pre-package all my food in 5 oz chicken/5 oz veggies or steak/veggies etc etc)

If I have to cook- I cook- if not- I eat eggs or left overs. I always have at least 5-700 calories to eat before I go to bed. Just make sure it doesn't affect your sleep- it doesn't bother me at all- I take my little bowl of ice cream to finish off in bed then set it aside- I have no issue eating right before I pass out.

NOM NOM NOM ice cream and tea. :D

Eating carbs in the evening makes you sleepy!

If you're hungry and have calories to spare, eat!

Time doesn't matter one bit, all that matters is the total amount of calories.

I eat roughly 2/3 of my daily calories late at night because I'm a night owl and that's when I'm most hungry and I can't get to sleep hungry. I know that I will be hungry so after dinner I pre-log and, if possible, pre-weigh/prepare my late supper (ca. 9.30pm to 10.30pm) and several snacks ready to grab and eat to prevent binging and temptation.

Just prepare to have enough calories available. It also (at least for me) doesn't matter what kind of food I eat, as long as it's healthy, nutritious food so I don't get hungry again half an hour later.

Doing that I've lost ~ 61 lbs in 7 months so far ...

Nothing wrong with snacks before bed.
  • I honestly don't think it's a problem. Thus far, whenever I am hungry I just eat, but not to the extent where I start binging. I don't think time is a factor which plays in terms of losing weight.
As for snacking: Some CHobani greek yogurt and nature valley honey and oats hits the spot; especially when you eat the nature valley bar and sip in some water

I normally have a bag of nuts and maybe a banana if my calories are low around 10pm. I often go for a run around 9 so like to fuel up afterwards.

    :drinker:

I had a bowl of Cocoa Krispies at 9:30 last night - am down a half pound on the scale this morning. I snack often between dinner and bedtime, hasn't been a problem for me either.

I've been having an english muffin w/ almond butter a couple times a week before bed and have been losing regularly. If I'm hungry, I eat and I try to concentrate on getting some good protein when I do.
