For me there is no momentum necessary to keep going after first few weeks back in January 2013 weighing/logging my food and going for a walk became habits. I just do it now requires no thought or effort.

I also do not require motivation. I prefer to just be disciplined, with a touch of self control.

No longer looking away when I catch my reflection in doors and windows has been an added bonus.

I find controversial topics on the internet I can troll bait people with. Keeps me coming back to log the calories I eat, and the calories I burn laughing at people on the internet.

Motivation waxes and wanes. It is determination that sees me through. I don't have any magical advice. You have to want a healthier lifestyle and more fit body more than you want the potato chips or cookies. Both being fat and losing weight are hard, so you have to pick your "hard." You also have to be patient and kind to yourself. This is for life, so you have to learn how to splurge or fall off the wagon sometimes but be able to pick yourself right back up and start again without beating yourself up or feeling guilty. Take each day as it comes, make good choices just for today, and forget about yesterday and tomorrow. Then do it all over again tomorrow and so on and so forth.

Should you really have a profile photo up of you, and your kid? For god's sake. This is the INTERNET. And a FITNESS website. We don't want you to get tormented for wearing so many clothes. Or for how your kid looks, please tell me he's on a 1200 calorie diet?

    SMH. Parents these days.

I have a new set of goals, usually fitness related, every 6 weeks or so. It helps me when I know I've "finished" something, regularly.

I have a fitbit with negative calories enabled. That means by 6am every morning I usually have -200 burned, which sure gets my butt out of the apartment to workout.

    Good habits.

I made changes to my nutrition that I can live with long-term. It is habit now. I don't really have to think about it at this point.

I take monthly measurements & recalculate calorie & protein/fat requirements. Good news is very motivating! Also expensive as my clothes keep getting too big!

I change up my strength training & cardio workouts regularly. I am always striving to increase my strength & endurance. I love besting my best!

Measurements every month and progress pics every 3 months. The scale doesnt always show all the progress you have made. I have only lost 8 pounds, but am 2 sizes smaller. Seeing the change from my first pic to the most recent keeps me going and pushes me to make an even better change in the next pic. Patience is key.
    Best of luck!!
