Are you letting mfp set your goal. The most it gave me was 2150 and I am 5 10 and was 272. So over 3000 does seem like a lot. But for the record I am not a guy.

Yeah i did. but other Cal calculators will say 3700 cals to maintain ur weight. But MFP i have a def of 1100 cals to lose 2 lbs a week. so i guess cals plus def and plus exercise it equals 2100 cals so guess its right just wasn't sure.

For the most part I have had nice results following mfp calorie goals. Any idea how many calories you were consuming before you tried cutting back?

MFP is based off of NEAT and is designed for its users to eat back their exercise calories.

TDEE -20% includes exercise calories so you don't "eat back" exercise cals logged. Those doing this method tend to log their exercise cals at 1 cal.

My TDEE is just over 3100 calories and im 5'9 165-170lbs. So 3200 is probably around what you need to lose 1lb a week since you weigh more than me and you are taller.

I'm 38, 5'7" and 185lbs, and my measured TDEE (BMF) is often over 4000cal. The weekly average is usually somewhere around 3400-3600.

I'd suggest trying it, if you don't like your results, change it.

I am 43 yr old , 6 ft. 1 in. and weigh 248 lbs. I have been in maintenance for the past year at 4000 calories day. If I was losing my calories would be 3500 to lose a pound a week..... Sounds like your numbers are pretty close to me.... Best of Luck

How active are you? I am 6' 2" and when I started here I was around 300. MFP had me start around 2300 to lose 2 pounds a week.

I punched your numbers into IIFYM and got ~2100 for BMR and ~2500 for non-exercise TDEE. How are you getting 3700?
