Fighting Tooth and Nail

I've been at this for about a month now. Boot camp 4 days a week, walking on my 5th day. 1200 calorie deficit, primarily a paleo-ish, hypoglycemic diet (i.e. eating every 2-3 hours, no gluten, very little refined sugar/processed foods, limited wine- except last night! ha!). I think I'm doing everything right, but dang when I step on the scale I feel like I'm fighting tooth and nail for every ounce! Ugh! When I was *cough* younger, I could just exercise and drop the weight like a hot potato. Now, it's a frustrating, hyper-aware, day to day struggle. I'm still determined to get this weight off. I HAVE to get this weight off, or it's straight to Diabetes-ville, USA according to my doctor.
Anyways, any tips? Words of Wisdom? Reality checks?

You have lost 13lbs in a month - that is excellent and not fighting tooth and nail at all. You should be aiming for about 2lbs a week so I see nothing wrong here.
My only comment is that you don't log everyday - that may be an issue when you have less to lose.0 -
You don't log everyday. One day you only logged 800 calories, not enough for anyone, especially someone who is as active as you.

Bottom line over estimating burn. under estimating intake. Deficit is not what you think it is.
Have you seen this?

I think you need to get organized and commit to a plan. Your food diary is all over the place. There are many days you don't log ( I assume maybe the weekend is when you eat way over and then feel that a " lost day is not worth logging ). In general you eat over your calorie amount quite frequently and often it goes beyond the calories you have already eaten back from exercise. Going over once in a while is ok, but the more you do it the more it takes away from the calorie deficit , which in return means little or no weight loss. If you are 1200 calories over one day, 450 a couple days later and another 375 ( for example ) yet in the same week...then yes, you will only lose a couple of oz. It does not matter how much you exercise, if you eat back your calories plus what you eat on top of that your loss will be very s.l.o.w. It does not matter if you skip meals or eat low on some days. If over a week or month you eat into your calorie deficit you will lose less, or not at all depending on how many calories you go over.
PS: In going back through your logs I would also like to mention that you don't exercise as much as you say.......at least it is not logged and that is what most of us go by. You need to do something and I am not quite sure what it is. Either commit to logging better so you can see where you need to make changes, or do the whole process in a more committed way, otherwise you are just wasting your time and energy with little or no results and that would be a shame.0 -
Decide you want to commit to this.
Log all your food everyday
Eat your calorie allowance each day, include your exercise calories.
Be patient!
Every day is an opportunity to succeed!0 -
That was a great article- especially reminding me to not get obsessed with the minutae. As for consistency, yes, I think I need to commit more to logging daily. It's just easy when life gets in the way, BUT I know that's not an excuse. As for the 800 calorie day, I was really sick (but I still logged! yay for me!). Trust me, under-eating is not a problem for me! I guess I'm just gonna have to buckle down even more and commit to making this a total lifestyle change.0
