Anyone else get by on mostly eating frozen foods. My breakfasts and lunches are usually some type of frozen meal. I'll take the time to make dinner, just wondering if anyone else did this?

Used to...the longer I've been at this, I've been cooking more. But I'm a baker. I want to put something together & let it cook without me babysitting it.
My latest thing is baking stuff & freezing it to pull out when I'm on the run.0 -
I'm a pretty fresh food cooker. I can understand and sympathize with those who don't have the time to cook a lot of food, but at the same time there are plenty of quicker or low demand foods to make. One I haven't made yet, but plan on is overnight oats. Simply add your non-instant oats into a container with milk, spices, and/or fruits and let it sit overnight. In the morning the Oats are nice and soft, with the flavor infused. Quicker to eat than even your frozen foods!0

Being frozen isn't the issue. Unfortunately, most packaged frozen foods are heavily processed, very high in sodium, and lacking much nutritional value. Also, I've noticed that as for calories, you usually get less food per calorie than meals you prepare yourself. So, meals you prepare yourself are usually healthier, tastier, and allow you to eat more...that's a big win for me. If it's a matter of needing the convenience, maybe you have one evening a week you can dedicate to meal preparation, and create your own meals to freeze.0

Frozen fruit and veg are fine. Frozen anything else is processed c**p (I do have a few items in my freezer but not much). As someone said, make your own frozen meals, at least you know what's in them.0

Oh man here we go.
I understand, as a grad student with a crazy work schedule, that sometimes eating something frozen is super tempting. But honestly, it's sssoooo much better for you to make your own food. And more fun that way too.
Like other people are saying, the frozen stuff is processed and then processed some more just to make it taste good. It's like having fast food, but the people can make it sound healthier than it really is by putting "Lean" or "Healthy" on the packaging. Take a look at the sodium/cholesterol content next time you eat a frozen meal then go make a recipe with the same ingredients (Hint: Your recipe will have half of the nasty stuff in the frozen meal. And you will have leftovers.)
So, it's totally fine to eat a frozen meal now and then but overall...not everyday. Just like eating out/fast food. Not for everyday!!!0 -
you'd be surprised how much money you'll save (on a $/serving basis) if you start making more meals yourself.0

Try crock-pot cooking instead. Cook up a few large batches, put them into containers and stick 'em in the freezer. You have more control of what goes into the meals that way. The hard part, is remembering to pull 'em out in time to defrost for whatever meal you're gonna use them for.0

My frozen fast food was cooked from fresh ingredients, portioned and frozen...by myself.
Just made a veggie/bean chilli today. 8 portions, yummy, filling, low cal, full of good nutritious stuff. Some will be eaten next week. The rest will wander into my freezer for days, when I need a fast and easy menu.0 -
I used to eat more frozen food because it was quick and easy, but then I started noticing the sodium. Yikes! I use the crock pot more these days. It might take a little more work, but it's worth it for me.0

I agree and love how many people are suggesting to cook up more than you will need and create your own frozen meals verses going out and buying any of the over processed prepackaged frozen meals out there. You determine what goes in and cook exactly what you like. Good luck.0

For my dinners, yep, absolutely. Sometimes I get fancy and order from MyFitFoods. But yeah, convenience all the way for me. I'm going to try to cook more when I move into my new apartment with a bigger/better kitchen.0

I used to eat a lot of frozen foods. It is quicker to make and easier to track your calorie/macro intake. Though what people point out about the processing and the sodium and the lack of nutrients is true, that has never really bothered me (and probably never will). I still eat about half of my veggies from frozen bags but I now tend to make the rest of my food fresh because it is cheaper and I can easily make it so that I get more volume per calorie, so it is more filling. Doesn't stop me from grabbing a frozen pizza every now and then.0

BIG fan of frozen veggies. That's the kind if frozen food I can get behind because there's no added preservatives or sodium, it's basically the same as fresh, just convenient and not prone to spoilage. Frozen fruit is awesome too...bc of what happens to it when it freezes...the defrosting process usually results in this sweet syrupy yummy-ness (natural, not bc of added sugar or anything). That warmed up fruit and syrup tastes sooooo good mixed in to yogurt.0 -

I use a lot of frozen grilled chicken breasts, they actually taste better than what we make and then I can just have it plain with frozen veggies or in a sandwich, salad, wrap, taco... Endless possibilities.
I have a lot of eggs too, when I don't have them for breakfast. I don't like cooking but I get by. And making more for dinner and eating leftovers is always nice too.0 -
i just eat stuff that doesn't need extensive making or heating i.e. bananas, yoghurt, protein shakes etc
brekkie might be the most important meal of the day, but i can't eat within an hour of getting up so anything i eat needs to be eaten at my desk. microwave at work and expensive canteen means lunch needs to be stuff that doesn't need cooking, and doesn't involve wheat/bread so again, yogs, protein shakes, fruit, corn cakes and nutella or pb etc.
proper made from scratch meal in the evening0 -
for the most part I food prep (cook and chop) on the weekend, saves time and money0
