TDEE-20% using Scooby Workshop

I am debating whether I want to go back to using this calculator as I feel it is better for my new lifestyle long term. I would rather be able to eat more and the #'s decrease as I lose weight rather than eat so low now and the #'s continue to decrease even lower. I have a few questions referencing the Scooby workshop calculator...I am 4 ft 10-(58 inches), 192 lbs, 35 yrs old, I workout 4 times a week for about 30-35 min (nothing too strenuos), I have my macros set to 40% carbs, 30% protein & 30% fat..I will be calculating my #'s at a 20% reduction and came up with:
A Bmr of 1593
Calories to maintain is 2191
Calories at 20% deductions is 1753
I know I should be eating more than my BMR of 1593 and close to my Tdee-20% which is 1753 in order to lose weight so I would say maybe 1700 a day? Correct?
My questions are this:
1. If I workout 4 times a week at about 30 min each time that averages about 2 hrs a week, so did I calculate it correctly using the SCOOBY calculator at 1-3 hrs a week? Scooby goes by the hours you work out per week, not days.
2. Is it all in my head that me being 192 lbs on a 4 ft 10 frame that 1700 calories is just too much food for me since I have soooo much to lose?
3. Since exercise is calculated in...I would need to eat the same # of calories everday? or on days I don't exercise, I eat less?
4. At desk job with no exercise it shows me with the same info as above to eat 1529 calories a day & then I am sure on days you exercise you eat back exercise calories.
I question the TDEE METHOD because if this is the case on days I don't exercise I shld eat less...Why is it saying eat 1753 everyday with 1-3 hrs of exercise per wk or is that just on the days I work out only? I am lost! lol
ALSO, scooby is the most used calculator so I'd rather just stick with it rather than any other ones.

Eat the 1753 every day. TDEE factors in your exercise calories and then spreads them out throughout the week. It shows lower at a sedentary setting because it doesn't have workout calories factored in. And, no having more weight to lose does not mean you need to eat less calories. It means you can lose weight eating more calories because your calorie intake to remain overweight is higher than the calorie intake to maintain healthy weight. Don't over think it, it's really simple.
TDEE method - input your weekly exercise, decide the deficit size you want, then eat the recommended number of calories per day every day.
MFP method - input requested information not counting exercise, select how much weight you want to lose, eat that plus eat back exercise calories.0 -
I would trust it as a good starting point (like anything). The calorie recommendations for exercising do seem high to me though. If I workout 3 hours a week - I should eat about 2338 calories a day vs. 2041 if I didn't...I use an average of a few different formulas. That's 279 more calories a day, or 1953 a week. There's no way that many calories are burned.0

I'm glad you asked about off days on exercise with Scooby's formula because I HATE logging in calories on off days I don't exercise on MFP because it has me at 1260. I work out at least 5 days/week and often for 2 hours, so for me, 1260 just because I didn't work out that day is bulls*** and not tolerable. Around 1500 on an off day I don't mind. I only speak for myself though...
I find "going in the red" on the off days bugs me a little but I have deficits from the week so I just tell myself to chill!0 -
Calculating TDEE and working from that number is a bit confusing for me.
I did three different TDEE calculators and the numbers of the TDEE minus 10% weight loss (approximately .5 loss a week) are a bit lower than what is given to me in MFP, which includes eating my exercise calories back. I've been losing weight at approximately .5 pounds per week and I always come a bit under my calorie goal because I have trouble eating all those calories (only because I don't eat a lot of high calorie sweets now but more proteins, vegetables, and fruits, which fill me up pretty quickly).
Never mind, if it's not broke don't fix it.
It's interesting comparing all the numbers, though.0
