Trying to do this alone...

Alright so about a month ago I truly started my weight loss journey. I'm about 6 feet tall, I started at 187.6 and now I'm 177.6 so 10 pounds is great! But it's so hard doing this all by myself! My boyfriend is in the army and is so in shape, he can run half-marathons and is so fit, (plus weighs less than me and is 3 inches taller.. boo) So he eats whatever he wants, beer, chips, cookies, brownies, ANYTHING and it is SOOO hard to try and eat clean when I'm with him and he's eating brownies or fast food. Any suggestions on how to fight the urge to eat like him? My first goal weight is 160 so about 18 pounds left to go, and I want those 18 pounds gone SOO bad!
Thanks and good luck to everyone else going at it alone!

  • We have an "it doesn't come in the house" rule here. There are no processed foods or treats in the pantry, but I don't worry so much when we are out, granted, we are home 90% of the time so it works well for us. It might not work well for someone who is out a lot.

As for staying strong, I know its a controversial saying but I try to remember "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" it is so true! And once your eating clean and eating real foods, fast food and junk food won't taste the same. It will taste like processed junk! Can you try to cook more from scratch for your boyfriend so he starts to realize how tasty real food can be?? Maybe that would help!
  • Yes! I have started cooking A LOT and make everything healthy but add some sides for him that I won't eat and veggies for me and he has been great about it!
  • Also, I am pretty easy going with homemade treats. If you make brownies from scratch with real ingredients, eat a small one, let him eat a bunch and give the rest to the neighbor. I believe health is about living life not about dieting. Weight will come off in time, and brownies are a part of life. Eat them, and enjoy them in moderation.

I'm just curious, after you meet your weight loss goals, are you going to continue to try and eat 'clean' forever, or are you going to want to eat like your boyfriend and incorporate all foods in moderation? If so, it might be easier to start now rather than have to make the adjustment then. Plus it will make the whole journey easier for you now if you don't deprive yourself. :flowerforyou:
