When to eat breakfast?

I keep hearing different points of view on this, so I wanted to hear what you all thought. I exercise in the morning (a brisk 20-25 min. walk and then about 10-15 minutes of strength work or exercise ball or something.) Question: Eat before or after my workout? I hear both. I'm not really hungry when I first get up, but if I should be eating before my workout, I can do that. Thoughts please?

honestly? whenever you're hungry for it.0

I don't think it really matters. I prefer to have a small snack before I work out and then my full meal afterward. If I don't have the snack beforehand then I sometimes feel a bit weak (I do an intense hour of cardio) and I like to have my meal afterward in case I'm really hungry.0

whenever works better for you. Whether you choose to eat before or after your workout is really more about your comfort than anything else.0

If you're not hungry, just wait! Many people do fasted workouts. I work out later in the day so I don't usually have to deal with this, but when I do races they are usually earlier in the morning and sometimes I can't stomach food, other times I can. Try it both ways and see which makes you and/or your workout feel better.0

This is what I was taught to do, and it works pretty well for me too.0 -
Depends how you feel.
When I workout in the mornings I need to have something small before hand or I get dizzy and nauseated. A banana or a piece of toast with peanut butter works. I think would usually make a smoothie with protein powder for afterwards as the thought of eating anything solid right after made my stomach turn. After about 2 hours, I would eat a real meal.
However, that is just how I am and how my body reacts.0 -
I agree it's a matter of personal preference. I workout in the morning before breakfast because I don't like to eat as soon as I get up and like to workout in the mornings. If you have energy for your workout and aren't hungry I wouldn't worry about it.0

Personally I feel exercising on a full stomach is bad, I for one always feel sick if I try to do so and end up doing half the exercise as I would on a empty stomach. So, I have always preferred to eat after exercise.
I hate breakfast... I'm never hungry in the morning. My routine while loosing weight was to get up, give the dog a decent walk, Do the dishes, and shower. Before bothering to eat anything... and even then all I really wanted for breakfast was a Coke-Cola, with a packet of oatmeal (breakfast under 400 calories) and I was fine till lunch. If I eat first before doing anything else... I don't feel like doing anything, I don't walk, I don't do the dishes... just shower and get on the computer. I also walked my dog 4 other times during the day, Always doing it before a meal/snack rather than after.0 -
Thank you very much, I appreciate the help. I was reading that you absolutely should eat before working out, and I don't do that, but was willing to start if I needed to. I like the idea of eating a little something before the workout, then eating a full breakfast after. I won't stress about it, then. You all rock!0
