WA-KA-POW Day ... question mark

Ive heard that you should have a day where you go above your normal daily intake in order to 'shake up' your metabolism and stop it stagnating or lowering itself to adjust to your normal daily intake levels
Is this true?
If so, how? In regard to:
- How often? Once a week/month etc
- Still below your target intake but just slightly higher than normal?
- Only on exercise days?
- Exercise more on that day?
- Only if bulking slash cutting?
Or just a load of bull shirt?

having been on a prolonged weight loss journey I had my metabolic rate measured twice along the way and it didn't change hardly at all.
So I don't really think there's a problem to solve.
If there was a metabolic slowdown it would take more than a day to return it to normal, surely ?0 -
I would like to search for some studies on it etc, but not even really sure what to search for ??0
