28 to 28 - I'm challenging myself.

I thought today would be a perfect day to start over again. I'm Sara and I really need to get my butt into gear. With the 28th of November being Thanksgiving I figure this would be the perfect time to start.

For this month I am going to challenge myself to the following:
-no pop!
-completing a workout four times a week (I have ChaLean and should really do that)
-be honest about it all

Anyone else want to be a buddy and we can support each other? Set up our own plans and root each other along?

I'll be glad to give it a try! Like you mentioned on your profile, I too have a VERY bad habit of starting things and NEVER finishing them! I'm having a hysterectomy on Dec 19th and am trying to get in the best shape possible to expedite my recovery. I have been lifiting weights and following the New Rule of Lifting for Abs book. I'm starting week 3 and already losing momentum. Ugh...I'm struggling so I could use the extra push! For this month I am going to challenge myself to:

    - Continue my NROL 2-3 times/wk
    - Walk 3 days/wk
-Check in with you every day!

We can do this! Thanks for doing this!
  • Yay! Day one is already a struggle... I have a fridge of pop next to me calling my name here in the office. ;)

Having someone else there to cheer/push/yell sometimes makes all the difference!
  • Hope you had a great day. Today was pretty good here, not perfect but pretty good. Got my fitbit today... :)

Hope you had a great couple of days. See what I mean? I have the greatest intentions, but they just don't always come to be. Anyway, I hope you were able to ignore that fridge of pop or give the pop away to co-workers! It does help to have someone to talk to...I have a fitbit and I love it!!! It's become part of my wardrobe...literally! I clip it to my bra every day! I love being able to check and see how many steps I've gotten in.

I have worked all this week and they just asked me to work all next week too! I'm a substitute teacher and I only work at the high school my kids attend. I love it, but its so sporadic that I have to take the days when they ask, cause it could be another week before I get called. Anyway, I said all that to say that I was able to get my 45 min walk in yesterday during my planning. I walk the track here if I can. I did do my NROL4Abs on Monday and plan/hope to get it in today. I'm the kind of person that wants to see immediate results, and with weight lifting, well, that's just not gonna happen! I think thats why I start but never finish...

Anyway, hope you are having a great day today!
  • Today is a great day so far! Got over 6K steps in before 1 and getting crock pot dinner done for family, making a dessert, finishing up homework and getting the house cleaned a little!

    Let's do it!!
  • I was super bad with food yesterday. I did not plan very well for the boredom in my late night class and it shows. I did get a workout in so that is a + and I had plenty of H2O, another +. Here is to an awesome Halloween! Have a great one!

I did good yesterday. Got over 10k steps in and did my NROL4Abs workout. I was beat last night! I could barely stay awake! Today might not be as good. As we speak, I'm covering someone else's class during my planning so I'm not getting my walk around the track in. I have to help serve the football team right after school, then go home wait for the hubs to get home and then come back here for the football game. Haven't been to the grocery store, so very limited on food choices, and I just have a crappy attitude right now. If there's time after we feed the team, I'm going to try to walk for at least 30 min. Maybe that will fix this crappy mood...hope you are having a better day today! Hang in there...
  • Crappy moods, the pits. They can take over everything. I hope you feel better today and got your walk in. I am finding that I am loving my little one mile walk. Long enough o get away but doesn't take too much time away from the crew. My goal is to start working out in the morning again with full on workouts, but first I have to get up to do it :D
I'm going to see if I can get the hubs to take the kids to gymnastics tomorrow and that would allow me time to hit the gym. Fingers crossed!

    Have a great Friday!!!

Hey! I didn't get my walk in yesterday  . After I fed the team and cleaned up afterwards, I was exhausted! :noway: So I went home and took a power nap before the hubs got home. I had tweaked my knee during my workout (lunges are tough on me and if I don't pay attention, I mess it up) on Wed. and it's not hurting as bad today, so I'm thinking maybe it was best that I didn't get my walk in. Anyway, its raining here now, so I guess I will be hitting the good ol treadmill for a short warmup before my strength training.

Good for you if you get up and get your workout in early! I am NOT a morning person at all! :noway: So needless to say, I do my workouts in the afternoon/evenings. Hope you don't have to take the kids to gymnastics tomorrow! My fingers are crossed for you!

    Have a great day! :flowerforyou:
  • How are you doing this weekend? Well I hope.
Friday was a bummer as far as exercise. I ended up with a migraine; ick. But I did get to sleep in Saturday after being up in pain all night Friday. Today is being spent with family and prepping food for the week. I have 4 ten hours shifts and I know if I do nothing now I will scam all week long when it comes to food. I have the family meals planned and Monday and Tuesday crock pot meals prepped and in the fridge. I even made the family apple pies for dessert. I don't mind them having sweets as long as I know what is in it I love days like this.

Going to get a long walk in before dinner.

Hope you have a great night!

My weekend was ok. I got things done around the house but no "intentional" exercise. I'm working all this week, so I hope to get my walks in at least 3-4 days this week. My diet was pretty good, except that I had 3 homemade peanut butter cookies. I'm going to the dr in the morning to have my thyroid checked. I'm pretty sure I have hypothyroidism. If I don't, I'll be shocked! I just want to know what is causing me to be so lethargic. This is not me! I can't stand it.

Anyway, sorry I didn't get with you over the weekend. I hope you had a great one and I hope your week is even greater!
  • I have an under-active thyroid! I refuse to take my meds for it and am working on natural ways to work the issue.

With my long days I have been flirting with the idea of more walks spread out during my work day. I did it today. A 25 min walk at lunch and a 10 min walk on a break. Then when I got home I took the dog for a 2 mile run. Feels good to accomplish what I wanted.

That's too weird about your thyroid! I got my NROL4Abs done today! I'm so glad I did, cause I feel so much better when I work out. It's just so hard to get motivated. I am off tomorrow and it will be later in the afternoon before I can get online to check in, so have a great day! :flowerforyou: Glad you got your goals met for today! Feels pretty good, don't it? Have a good one!
  • Hi! Life is crazy here. Sick kids, long work days, school and hubs getting a new job has made me a little nuts... :) Things will get crazier too. Hopefully I can better balance it all though. Food is very good though, I've been really good with making good choices and not over eating. Pop is still bad though. I really have a pop issue. :(

I'm such an awful partner! I'm so sorry that I haven't been a better friend! I've had the craziest week and a half! I have been placed in a long term sub job (til Dec 4th). It's good for my pocketbook, but the job was done by a sub before me and he was awful! The man didn't grade one paper, the room was in total disarray! So I've been working my butt off getting things in order.

Then, we went out of town for the Veteran's Day weekend. I had to take my oldest son to have an MRI done today. I get home, and my youngest had left an ink pen in the laundry and when I opened the dryer, our clothes were ruined! Then, I got my results from my blood work and my thyroid is normal! I would have bet my next paycheck that it was not! Now I'm back to square one with regards to figuring out what is wrong with me. I hope with everything in me that it's the Mirena. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around all of my symptoms being side effects of that thing, but I hope it is! I'm not myself and I want/need to be the "old me" again. I don't like who I am now.

I hope your kids are feeling better and the hubs' job is going well. Have you balanced your life out yet? If not, you will soon! Try to stay away from the pop...but everybody has their own vice...you'll be fine!
  • No worry Braves, I've been awful too.

What a good and bad thing. It's awesome it isn't your thyroid, awful cuz you still don' t know what's going on. For years we couldn't find out what caused some of my "issues". Found a Dr who really listened and found out my B was super low. Causes depression and forgetfulness... All kinds of goodies. Point is, don't stop looking and making smart choices along the way. Sooner or later you'll figure it out. For me I have low iron, low B and a funky thyroid.

Hope the MRI showed good results!

Hubs is all done negotiating and his first day there is Dec 2nd. We're looking for an apartment for him now. The joys. And then I get to be a single mom for 6 months! I'll be fine, I did it twice before when he deployed, but it isn't fun. But it is what's best for the long run :D

I'm eating better every day. And weaning myself off the pop again. My constant battle with the fizzy stuff. (hehe) I'd love to start 2014 being pop free with no cravings that cause me to give in. We'll see.

The kids are all over being sick now. Yay. Now we've moved onto more important things. Like is Santa real and how will Christmas work with Dad in one place and us in another. We've finally told the youngest who is 5 that he isn't (in the sense of the fat man coming into your home to bring you gifts) in spirit and tradition he is very much real... Of course I caught all kinds of hell for that one from other moms.

Today is my Friday and I am looking forward to being able to sleep past 5am tomorrow and baking 100 cupcakes for a friends birthday party on Saturday. It will be awesome. I get to bake until I drop and I already have a place to take them to so I don't eat them all :) I love to bake, but I hate having the goods in the house because I have VERY low self control ;) So, this is a total win/win for me.

    Have a great day!

Wow!! You HAVE had a heck of a few weeks!!! My iron looked good, but I will ask about my B, thanks for telling me!

Where is your hubs going to work? Sounds like you have a rough road ahead of you! Is/was your hubs in the military? If so, please tell him thanks from me! And more importantly thanks to you and your kids! All of you serve our country, not just your hubs! Hang in there! You are strong! You got this! I hope you have family close by to help you...take care and have a great day!!!
  • We were both military but the deployments were a bit much for us. this is with a civilian company. It's all the better for us as a family as long as we survive the next six months (lol). We'll make it. My mom is here and that will help with me still working full time.

How was your weekend! We had birthday parties and a lazy Sunday. I only had 3 mini cupcakes while there (the bite size kind of mini) and was content to not go crazy. I am down a couple pounds from when I started so that is exciting. :D

Hey there! My weekend was ok. I spent most of the day Saturday nursing my sinuses. Yuck! It's that time of year! Good for you enjoying the cupcakes, but not going overboard with it! That's what it's all about...moderation. So happy for you to have lost some weight! That's fantastic!:flowerforyou: I hope you have a great tomorrow!
