how mad should would be with our real estate agent?
Our house is under contract and we moved out 2 weekends ago. The house is vacant.
We're out at a college football game this saturday and get a call from our home security company saying a door has been opened. We tell them there's nobody home and nobody scheduled to come out so please send the authorities to check it out.
About 30 mins later we get a call from our agent saying that the buyer (who is going to rent the house) had asked him if they could show the house and he said it was fine because we were gone, moved out, and had already cleaned the place.
So our buyer's agent and a prospective tenant had to just wait for the cops to show up and tell them what was going on because our agent was too lazy to call us to tell us about a showing (and have gotten the code to disarm the house).
Needless to say we were not thrilled.

I'd be pretty ticked off and I'm sure the cops weren't too thrilled either...your real estate agent is an idiot!
What did you say to the agent?
If you decide to stay with him, I would at least not trust him with the security code and insist you get x number of hours notice for future showings. It's still your house whether you're living in it or not!0 -

Talking to his superiors won't do anything. Take revenge and teach him a lesson! Does the realtor have kids? I would hide in the kids closet for weeks, taking picture of his kid sleeping and then one day, when they're gone outside and have left the kid alone or with a baby sitter, I'd come in, knock the baby sitter unconscious, and pretend to chase the kid. Let the kid run away and then you too should run out but while running out, drop some of the pictures you took of his kid you took from the closet while kid was sleeping.
That oughta teach him not to do something like that.0 -

I would be mad, but I would talk to them about it to make sure you so not want them showing without your permission. It's not right, but I think this probably happens all the time. Plus, that person might have bought your place, so I wouldn't be tooooo mad at them!0

I work for a Realtor Association, so I would first like to point out that not everyone with a real estate license is a Realtor.
Here in Indiana that is trespassing. And just because a property is vacant, does not give a buyer's agent the right to show it without appointment. That is written in our associations rules and regs.
I would call that' agent's broker and complain to them, they are sort of like their boss if they hold that person's license. If that agent is a Realtor, you can also file a complaint with the local board of Realtors.0 -

I'd be annoyed but after a terrible experience I had, I realized that most real estate agents (sorry if you are one) really have no respect for their clients and just want a sale. I was trying to sell my townhouse a few years a go, and was under contract. My agent let the buyers in because I had allowed them to store ONE BED in my house while waiting for the closing. I went to check on the place and they had moved all of their sht into my house and blocked the door ways, scratched my walls, and broke the lock on my back gate. The agent had just unlocked my door and left them to do as they pleased. The contract fell through and I demanded they pay rent for storing all their crap in my house for 3 weeks and fired my agent. It was a nightmare. I have never felt so disrespected.0

I like the revenge suggestions....
But, ya.... if you get charged for having the cops coming out, the agency should pay the fee. This would be a fitting punishment to the realtor, who f#cked up in the 1st place... and would show him / her that you don't take *kitten*.
Other than hat.... although I like to whine about pointless cr@p myself.... you're probably pretty lucky, if this is the biggest problem you have. Have a nice coffee with a shot of something in it, and relax. :yawn:0 -

I have fired agent reps for much less then this. It is called tresspassing.
Depending on the state, the agent does not have the authority to let others onto/into YOUR property without your consent. Review your contract.0 -

I think I would be annoyed, but not furious. Your agent should have given you notice (as per terms of the listing agreement) and ideally should have been present for any showings, but you've moved out and the house is under contract, so that bone just isn't fully yours to growl over anymore. I just don't think it's something to get overly worked up about. Buying and selling property is always stressful and there's no need to make it even worse when no harm was done.0
