I've found other articles similar to it. It really goes into detail on how we are kind of fooled by the 8 glasses of water phenomenon. By no means am I saying it's bad for you, it's just an interesting angle.

You just opened a mighty can o' worms, my friend.

I'll post a few other links I've collected on the subject and leave it at that, with one comment: I personally drink about a liter a day to satisfy my thirst. I'll drink more when I've exercised and lost fluids through sweating.

I drink alot of water but I still find it hard to get in 8 glasses. Maybe its because Im busy running around after 2 kids but yea. Ive had no problem losing weight though I am a firm believer in water being the best for anyone and lots of it. I dont beleive that anyone should force themselves to drink when they are not thirsty just because they havent goteen the water in

I only know for myself personally that if I drink anything less than 8 glasses per day my scale doesn't move.

You will find articles warning you about everything, I saw one that said using a hair dryer can cause cancer . . . I tend to take these with a grain of salt!

    Same here
  • I didn't say it wasn't good for you, it was just a different take on the topic. I try to drink 8 a day but sometimes, I'm just not that thirsty. I workout every morning and have at least 3 bottles after that to replenish my fluids but as the day goes on, I find myself having to kinda force 5 more glasses down.

3 bottles is 6 glasses. If they're the normal smaller bottles. So you'd only need 2 more, if you felt the need for 8. My water bottle is 32 oz, so I get half my day's water or more in a workout.

(I find keeping my throat wet helps combat my activity-induced asthma. I'm not suggesting that anyone else try to take in more water than they need in a workout.)
  • Haha thanks, I just realized that after I posted it!

All I can say is I went 1 week with no water. I was sluggish, I was constipated, my urine was a dark yellow (I do not take vitamins) my memory was less and I was foggy.

2nd week I drank 2-3 glasses a day. Had to gag them down as I was never one to drink water. I found after about 4-5 days I WANTEd more water, but for purpose of the experiment I kept with the 3 glasses. I felt a bit better, didnt want as much iced tea.

3rd week I drank 8-10 cups a day. I WANTED it..............I craved it. My body was so thankful for clear clean water it released a bunch of junk. My urine was a pale yellow, I was daily regular. I was not as hungry when I drank a cup of water before a meal.

So in my book water is essential.

I have found that drinking the Dasani water really helps quinch my thirst and makes it much easier to drink the water I need.

I always try to figure out where the bathroom is first thing. Because unless you're sweating, that water's gotta go somewhere-- I drink up to 14 cups per day!
