Herniated Disc/Work/Walking Problems

I was in an accident several months ago (SUV landed on my car at a red light - crazy) but long story short, here I am with disc problems in T12/L1. It's causing several problems but the biggest is that the my right leg sometimes stops functioning and I can't walk. Yes, there's sometimes pain shooting up my back and the disc feels like it will explode it hurts so much but other times, it just doesn't work right. When it does that, I've actually been forced to crawl up the stairs at home.

I'm meeting with another doctor on Wednesday to help with rehab (and I've been in physical therapy for three months now) but in the mean time, I'm stressing about getting back to normal - getting back to making it into the office and getting around easier.

Anyone go through this? How did you get around when walking became a problem? I can't use crutches because when I was in the accident, it damaged a nerve in my left shoulder which only healed a few weeks ago. I don't want to flare it up again.

TIA

I can't speak from your kind of experience, but I feel for you in my own way. I have rheumatic lupus and sometimes my joints just stop working for no apparent reason, and I have to limp, lie down, or walk with crutches.

The only thing I can do is just take it easy as much as possible until I feel better.

I hope you are seeing a chiropractor as well as a physical therapist. Sometimes chiropractors can do things for you that other doctors can't.

You might want to see if you can get a wheelchair for really bad days. If anything, itll at least keep you mobile without straining yourself. I know that doesnt work for stairs though.

    Hope things get better quickly!
