Lots of weight loss in a short time

I'm not complaining buut I'm a bit sceptical. Just got on the scales (not expecting to have lost anything) after 4 days of exercising and counting calories and it says I've lost 10-11lbs. My boyfriend weighed himself again and his weight is about the same as it was before. Scales are in the same place and I'm not wearing anything much heavier or lighter than I was.
I'm totally confused because I feel like it's impossible to lose that much weight when I've been eating healthily but pretty normally in such a short time? Any explanations of what this could be?

The first week of a diet usually results in a more dramatic loss as you are losing a lot of water weight. It will stabilize assuming you are fueling your body properly. Remember this feeling because unless you are starving yourself, it won't happen so quickly anymore. Have patience and build good habits around eating and exercise. You're off to a good start!0

Thank you, I didn't know water weight could be that much or come off that fast! I presume once it starts slowing down, that's the non-water weight bit kicking off? I'll keep going with it0

You'll lose a lot of stored water the first bit especially if you are restricting carbs. You lose glycogen which in turn stores water.0
