Ok I have large calves. They are 16.5inches, I run a lot now, I do not do leg weights because I do not want to make them bigger. How do I decrease their size?

Your ticker shows that you have quite a ways to go till you hit your goal. Which means that your calves still have fat on them. As you lose weight, you will lose the fat. The loss of fat will make them smaller.
You SHOULD do leg weights because muscle helps burn fat. You will not gain (much) muscle in a calorie deficit, but you will get rid of fat and make your legs look fabulous.0 -

That pretty much sums it up.0 -

I do plenty of leg workouts and my calves have lost .25 inch. Your body will lose fat from the places it wants - unfortunately we can't control that. Fat loss will equal a measurement loss - not doing leg exercises will not help your issue.0

In addition, running also helped to shrink my calves quite a bit.0

Muscle is an expensive tool, I think consider a flashy expensive car vs a cheap regular car. Now, the flashy car uses a LOT of fuel, it burns through so much, but it runs quicker, is faster, etc.
This is like muscle vs fat. Fat is cheap, it doesn't need much to have the body to run, if you have muscle your body needs more fuel ( food ) to run. Thats why when you see those beefy men they eat like, 5000 calories just to maintain. Their body is one massive food munching machine.
So, if my analogy was right, muscle burns far more than fat.0 -
I do lots of heavy lifting with my legs (including calves) and mine have shrunk a full inch in the last year (I've also lost 20 pounds during that time).0

Thank you all for the responses! My sister who is 5'6 and weighs 132 has 16in calves, my mother who is also tiny has large calves. They run large are both sides of our family ( I should have mentioned this much earlier).0

Can't change genes. They are worker muscle legs. I have em too. But You should do as suggested above get the best shape you can out of them.
Good luck.

I've always had big calves too... I was always stuck with the wide calf boots, etc. Since I started losing weight, some pounds have come off my calves, and overall I've lost 2 inches there. But it was awhile before that happened. I can't tell you for sure when it happened, but I can tell you that I've been at this for over 8 mts, and they now finally look closer to normal lol.
I've heard there's no way to lose weight in a specific area, but as you get closer to your goal, it will come off eventually.0
