Hypoglycemia (please help)

I think i may have low blood sugar due to my eating disorder.... I never use to react to sugar this way, but after having Nutella on my oatmeal this morning, maybe an hour or two later, I started feeling weird. My heart wouldn't stop pounding fast, dizzy, tired, harder to inhale, slow reaction timing, foggy headed, hands tingling, slight confusion, out of breath really fast. It's been hours later and I still feel the same way, even after having a whole wheat tuna sandwich with an unsweetened green tea and water.... or maybe it's because I wait too long in between meals to eat? I'm a restrictive eater and plan my food ahead of time....I wont snack on anything in between meals if I've logged everything already and it all comes out to be perfect or a little under....even if I feel weird. i know thats bad, but thats why it's called a disorder. And yes, i'm getting help for this.

I thought I'd ask peoples opinions here. And please do not lecture me how bad you think Nutella is for you....it use to be a "fear food" for me but i overcame it recently and proud of myself for having it again! I love it! But I think I over did it this morning.... Or maybe it's the length of time I waited to eat again.....

I hope it's not because of the Nutella......I LOVE IT! :frown:

You need to see a doctor and stay away from high sugar but you do need some carbs. Hazelnuts can also be high allergy foods. Yes, it could be the Nutella.

If you think you may have blood sugar issues, buy a meter and test. Foods high in sugar can mean high insulin responses. You may need to plan smaller meals closer together. And see a doctor.

Definitely get a hold of your physician to get their advice. It could be an allergy, could be the sugar, could be nothing, could be everything....we just can't diagnose it unfortunately, so get on the phone in case it is something major :)

And now I want Nutella.... :)

Could it have been an anxiety attack because Nutella used to be a "fear food"? I would call your Dr either way.

Have you had hazelnuts before with no reaction? That's the first question to ask.

I am a tweener. I have both problems with high and low sugars. First it was hypoglycemia and that went on for about 5 years...now I am going the other way and am on medication for it.

See your doctor asap. This does sound odd. Too many carbs can have the same reaction. Around here we can go the pharmacy and for a small fee be tested to see where your sugar level is at.

I have my allowance in the morning usually. when that happens, i dont touch fruit or anything else high in sugar for the rest of the day. thats when i want my sugar, is in the morning. then im find for the rest of the day/

I still think you should have your sugars tested.

How many times a day do you eat.

You need to see a doctor. There could be many other things going on because of your restricted eating, not the sugar. Potentially life threatening.

three, sometimes four if the snack is small enough or if my meal was small enough for me to have that snack

You really need to see a doctor. Now.

If your symptoms are from hypoglycemia, there's a danger of passing out or seizure since you've been feeling this way for hours.

    Definitely go to the doctor.

And it could be any number of things. You might even just be sick or something.

No one here can or should diagnose. It sounds like a panic or anxiety attack but it could be a hundred things. You should see a good doctor and get a check up - especially a blood test.

I hope you get to feeling better.

it's calmed down now...plus, i'm eating dinner soon. Thank you, everyone. i think it was caused by the time frame in between meals of not eating...

Well, I ate the same amount of Nutella this morning with Weetabix and no sugar added strawberry Greek yogurt with lots of cinnamon and some unsweetened plain almond milk and a black coffee and lots of water.... See how I feel soon.
