I am very frustrated using the recipe calculator. It should be so easy. You have to go through sometimes very long lists of completely unrelated items to find a simple entry such as olive oil. And, because many items are listed in grams, it becomes a major mathematical exercise to convert cups and tablespoons and teaspoons. I have also found major errors in calorie listings which I understand is from customer entered items. I wish there was a simple way to figure out calorie & nutrition content for recipes I am preparing.

When you are searching for olive oil or any other ingredient, try entering it with the brand name or label name, if available. If not try including generic in the search name, for example type "generic olive oil". I enter generic with alot of ingredient names such as vegetables that should have the same basic calorie count regardless of brand. If you have the label with included nutrition info in front of you but you cannot find it in the mfp database, then you have the perfect opportunity to include it in the mfp database and help yourself and others out.

As far as measurements, normally I am the other way around I always find the ingredients listed in tablespoons or cups when I want the grams, ozs, etc. becuse they are more accurate. A cup or tablespoon measurement can vary depending on whether filled just below the line or a heaping tablespoon. If you don't have a scale I highly reccomend buying one!
