Aloha, My name is Eli and I just joined MFP. I am 53 as of this month, I love my Children, surfing, playing guitar, Wing Chun, Music, staying active. I am 5'10" and weigh 174 and I am in descent shape. I am not overweight but I guess my biggest issue is not being ripped around the mid section. Otherwords I have muscle there but just can't seem to get rid of that small layer of fat that doesn't let it show all the way. So I decided to join here and actually keep track of what I am eating and have found out that it's crazy to see what we put into our bodies with out monitoring it. I love that I now have a great resource to use to help me in my endeavor to be in the best shape I can in my fifties, not only for myself but for my children and those who are a part of my life in every aspect. I have Chronic atrial fibrillation of the heart which means I am constantly in A-fib. I was on Pradaxa blood thinner, Carvedilol Beta Blocker and Ramipril which is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. I know, I know this sounds terrible but here's the thing. I stopped taking all of these prescriptons because I dont like to take meds for one issue only for that med to create other issues which I think is crazy about the whole prescription industry. Every pill causes some side effect which really isn't a side effect but a direct effect from taking the prescription. I juice with Kale and spinach now which has natural blood thinners in it. I have had pretty good eating habits for awhile now but realize I need to be a bit stricter on my diet and this site is helping tremendously. I run 4 miles three nights a week and 3 miles one night a week. I do Wing Chun with my youngest son twice a week. I surf whenever there are waves and I am off from work. I know I may be crazy for not taking the meds but I feel better when I am not on them and I have always been the person who wouldn't even take an Advil unless I was really at the last threshold of pain. So I don't now how my life will pan out only God knows this but I choose to live it drug free, active and faithful in Christ. Mahalo (Thank You) Myfitnesspal for giving us this free site to keep track of our fitnessgoals and eating habits. Great job...:glasses:
