Calorie counting clarification

I'm a little confused - so maybe someone can clarify.
My BMR is 1,600.
My goal is to eat 1,200-1,400 calories a day.
4 days a week I exercise 400 calories away (I run).
So for those days, I'm at 900 calories (average) when I complete my MFP diary (which is public, BTW).
To loose weight, I should be at a deficit of 500-1,000 calories per day to lose 1-2 pounds a week (assuming 3,500 calories=1 pound).
So, is it correct to say that with a BMR of 1,600 minus the 900 calories intake for the day, my deficit is 700 calories that day?

No, BMR is actually the number of calories your body needs to do basic functioning while in a coma. You need to figure out how many calories you burn to maintain your current weight. To do this you can simply set MFP to lose 0lbs per week and notice the amount of calories it gives you as your goal.
Or go to http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html and put in your info with Sedentary.
Netting 900 calories a day is not healthy and I recommend trying your best to net at least 1200. Netting your BMR would be the most healthy and help preserve the muscle mass you currently have.0 -

You should eat 400 extra when you run.0
