Zoloft / Sertraline

I have put on so much weight on zoloft. Can anyone tell me if i will lose it if i stop taking it or how long it will take to be out of my system. I eat well most of the time and exercise regularly but i just CANNOT lose weight its really getting me down.

Any advice would be great !!!

Thank you

I don't think the drug is responsible for the weight gain directly, sorry. You need to look elsewhere.

Do you think you gained weight because the Zoloft increased your appetite, or you think it had some kind of metabolic effect? I took Zoloft, and it didn't affect my weight, but I know it can be an issue for some people. I think for some people it makes them more apathetic, so they end up eating more. If you stop taking it, you may stop having increased appetite, but unless it's water weight or bloat, it's unlikely that the weight will just vanish. It will just take a good old fashioned calorie deficit, and time. Just make sure you stop taking it, under the care of a med professional! Good luck!

My daughter was on Zoloft and put on 15 pounds in 2 months. No matter how hard she tried her weight wouldn't budge. Talk to your doctor! They switched her meds and now she is at least losing. Again, talk with your doctor. Good luck!

Sorry to hear you've had to go on these. Perhaps it's a logging issue and unrelated to the meds? Depression can really effect eating habits - some can't start eating, others can't stop.

Do you weigh all of your food on a kitchen scale - perhaps look at that?

    All the best x
