Water weight from upping protein??

The past two weeks i have upped my protein from about 60-70 grams per day to about 100-120 a day. I have stayed within my normal calorie range and have been burning about the same amount as i normally do in workouts, but for some reason i have gained almost 10 lbs in these 2 weeks....Could this extra protein be causing me to retain water?

Well increasing your protein is what is suggested to gain muscle weight.0

The only thing I can think of is if that protein came with extra sodium so that's what's making you retain water. I don't believe the body processes protein in the same way it does carbohydrates in order to form fat -- if you're still within your recommended calories, it shouldn't be converted to fat.0

let me say this - i did the same thing because i had hit a plateau and was actually gaining some weight - i was working out a lot so i upped my protein - now.........i gained a couple of pounds like what seemed to be overnight but then really increased my water intake - almost double - those pounds came right off - i think you body must freak because of all the extra protein fuel - but the water did the trick fro me - the weight came off as quickly as it came on............0

my guess is it's definitely a sodium thing. everytime i do focus my diet on more protein, the lbs drop faster because of how it's converted in your body. what types of protein have you incorporated? you may need a tad bit more water too... have you done any detoxing? i have a really good detox plan my trainer gave me. i try to do it monthly.0

I've been incorporating proteins such as fresh chicken breast, cottage cheese, and protein powders0
