50 and older

Hello, My name is Chris. I will be 60 soon. I have had a struggle with my mid section for a long time, since I turned 45. I'm sure most 50 & 60 year old's know what I am talking about. I woke up one day and yikes where did that come from. Very hard area to get rid of. I walk miles and try to pick hilly roads and I swim at our indoor community pool. I am not saying I exercise everyday but at least 3 times a week, I know, I know I should exercise 5 or 6 times a week. I lose weight but veeeerrry slllloowly and if I mess up just for a week it seems to come right back. But I do watch my caloric intake and try real hard to stay with in my calorie allowance. I am not a salt snack eater maybe popcorn sometimes. I would love to hear from some menopausal women who have the same problem and if you have any tips or ideas for me.

Thanks so much!

I'm 57, will be 58 in January...I know EXACTLY what you mean...the GUT is the HARDEST place to keep the weight off! I can keep it off my hiney, my legs, etc...but my middle seems to attract the fat!

I know what you are saying I am really struggling right now as I have a foot injury that doesn't allow me much exercise. I swim and ride my bike and do spin class but I miss running.
I am 61 and up until May of this year I was running daily then the injury happened and it has been hard.
When I get my foot problem healed I am going to start the T25 program to help with toning and start all over again with the running.
Hopefully I can snow shoe this winter.

What is the T25 Program? What kind of foods do you eat? Breakfast I eat hard boiled egg with a half english muffin, oatmeal with fruit or sometimes cereal. Lunch yogurt, lots of veggies and hummus, soup I bring a lunch everyday to work. Dinner Chicken more veggies, quinoa sweet potato, stir fries, I just try to stay away from Bread, rice and white potato. My downfall is Pasta, it my Italian heritage.

My husband and I snow shoe too! I hope we get some snow this winter.

Thanks for responding. Keep in touch.

So what do you do? Like I said I walk (uphill if I can) swim. I try to always watch what I eat. Veggies, Veggies and more Veggies with Hummus. My daughters wedding is in March and at Christmas we are going dress shopping, I only have a couple of months to go. If you have any tips and or ideas I am all ears.

Thanks for responding. Keep in touch maybe we can help each other.
